Guest guest
Sat Nam We want to keep the teachings of Yogi Bhajan as pure as possible. This is a very specialized form of Yoga, working directly with powerful Kundalini energy. We need to follow directions precisely so that the practice remains SAFE and healthy. Yogi Bhajan is the only Master of this yoga, and has been very generous to pass on the practice to us. We need to respect and honor his teachings, including the one that states not to alter them, out of whim or ego or whatever. I practice & teach both Hatha & Kundalini yogas. It is important to me to practice both for different reasons... for example, Hatha keeps me flexible and in alignment so I can do Kundalini yoga easier. Also I can get really high off KY and Hatha keeps me grounded. BUT I keep the practices separate and think this is how Yogi Bhajan would want it. What I was taught in teacher training, is that everything between the Adi Mantra (tuning in) and the Long Time Sun/Sat Nam chant (tuning out) is Kundalini yoga, and should ONLY be Kundalini yoga. If you want to practice Hatha or other yogas before you tune in & do KY, or after you do KY & tune out, that is great. Rule of thumb: anything you do in a Kundalini kriya should remain as part of the whole kriya! (Okay, unless it is specified it can be done on its own, right!) Make use of what the world has to offer you. Do what serves your spirit. Follow directions. WAHE GURU!
