Guest guest
Sat Nam Marily, There are several forms of Prana in the body. The prana that governs the stomach is called the samana vayu. Do a search or go to http://english.aleph.to/lib/doctrines/basic_d/09.html for more info. The samana vayu energy is about digestion but not just physical digestion. If we eat something that doesn't agree with us our body will react to make sure we don't fully assimilate this, including indigestion and vomiting. Additionally, if we are overwhelmed with life issues we tend to get confused. Confusion is a sign of weakness in this area. You need to go at this from a few different directions. My recommendations are 1 - Sitali breath (do a search) is very important for clearing away the excess charge of emotions in the digestive area. We who have emotional attachments to food should/could do this breath 108 times before a meal. If you have a pretty good sadhana, anyway, then you can get by on a much lower number of breaths. 2 - Regarding Elephant Kriya, please search the archives of late November. This is something to do when you are healthier. You have other issues. 3 - Eliminate foods that aggravate Vata (go to http://www.sahej.com/ayurveda_intro.html) on my site. In a very few days you will see a difference. Also, is there pain and cracking in your joints? 4 - Do nothing but Kitcheree for 40 days. Again search archives. I'm not into fancy terminology but I don know that your system is very toxic form what you are saying. Having discipline in this area will give you success. Guest guest
- Sat Nam Dharam and thanks! Is Sitali breath the Sitali pranayam?...I guess so...No I don't have any pains in my joints and I have tried to do the mung beans and rice diet but the most I lasted was 10 days because I can't digest the rice (I know it sounds crazy but my stomach doesn't like white food like rice, milk, bananas and spagetti). As for the toxins on my system I was smoking 2 packs of cigarets a day until last May that I quit, never liked alcohol but used to smoke other plants and I love Doritos and potato chips. That's for toxins. Also every time I get upset my stomach becomes worse..Right now I am doing Surya kriya for 40 days and Gan Puttee meditation for 368 days so how many sitalis should I do before eating?that sounded very interesting.Thank you again for your advice Love and Light Marily Sat Atma "OUR DESTINY IS TO BE HAPPY" - Yogi Bhajan You can UNSUBSCRIBE from this list at the Groups Member Center (My Groups), or send mail to Kundaliniyoga NO UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST PLEASE! Guest guest
Yes, emotions can totally screw digestion. In Chinese medicine, when liver chi is too Yang, it interferes with stomach, pancreas and spleen meridians. Liver is the "Sea of Emotions". You need to detox your liver and you should consider a Chinese or Ayurvedic herbalist. Meditation is good, and the vibration is never wasted but unless we work the whole temple it is quite possible to meditate for years and never get the results of our efforts. Without working the whole body, we end up having created this disciplined area in ourselves than can be easily shaken or altogether destroyed. Strengthen your navel point, sweat, drink lots of Yogi tea and seriously consider the following Kriya. It has Sitali breath as the basis. This looks perfect for you. Read the description. Sat nam, Dharam Singh Saro Nari Sohi Pranayam with the Siri Gaitri Mantra Sit in easy pose or in lotus pose. Keep the spine straight and the body balanced. Concentrate at the root of the nose where the eyebrows meet on the forehead. Close the eyelids to 1/ 10th open. Place the hands in prayer pose at the center of the chest or in gyan mudra: the tip of the index finger touches the tip of the thumb. The hands rest over the knees with the elbows straight. Curl the tongue and extrude the tongue about 1/2 inch past the lips. Inhale through the "U" of the tongue in eight equal stokes. Place the mantra on the strokes. One mantra per eight strokes of the inhale. Then exhale in eight equal strokes through the nose. Make the breath precise and forceful. Mentally place the mantra on the breath as you exhale, one mantra for the eight strokes. The Siri Gaitri Mantra is: RA MA DA SA, SA SAY SO HUNG Use a melody as in Kirtan Kriya or use a monotone when mentally reciting the mantra. Continue the meditation for 11 to 31 minutes. Then inhale deeply, hold briefly and relax. COMMENTS: This meditation must be built slowly. Start with 3 to 11 minutes. The pranayam, is very powerful. It can adjust all the meridians and healing channels in the body. Treat it with respect and keep a glass of water handy. It will give you fantastic digestion. It will supply you with energy when you are sure there is none. It is a healing meditation that can empower your entire immune system. It is the type of mediation that you must approach with patience and regularity to mine its hidden secrets. It is worth the effort. Guest guest
Sat Nam and thank you so much Dharam! I will begin today the meditation and ra ma da sa is the mantra that I love most. Should I maybe replace Surya kriya with this med for a while or is it not a good idea to do 2 meditations in one sadhana? The sites were really helpful, I will study the ayurvedic info more thoroughly because it really gives answers. As for the confusion you are right because in one year I made a 360 degrees turn in my life and went from a lifestyle magazines stylist to a kundalini yoga teacher...and although my heart is very clear about where I am going, my mind and body are getting a bit confused...not knowing what they should keep fom my old life and how to assimilate the new. Hope that I will find my balance soon... Love and Light Marily Sat Atma
Guest guest
Hey there Marily Sat Atma, There are so many sets that would work with the abdominal area and re-align the situation. Think in terms of stomach, digestion, Prana-Apana balance. You can do Gan Puttee in the morning and the other one in the evening. Also, get into the habit of drinking pretty warm/hot lemon water in the evening and morning this will get the gall bladder to clear, which in turn will help your liver. Brush teeth afterward as acid from lemon will go after tooth enamel. Also, gagging (see posts from last month, there are a few) in the morning will help move this energy blockage in the mid-section. If you want a dramatic, life altering kick-in-the-head, ask me about the Arise and Shine Cleanse (no, I'm not a rep) Go check it out at http://www.ariseandshine.com You definitely need to contact me, though. I'm a veteran and know much more than you can get from the brochures (eg. the $198 they ask is for two cleanses, I can get you one at about half that). More later, Dharam Marily Pouplis wrote: > Sat Nam and thank you so much Dharam! > I will begin today the meditation and ra ma da sa is the mantra that I love most. Guest guest
Sat Nam Dharam, Listen to this :I decided to do my regular set yesterday and start with the kriya that you suggested and do it only for 3 min as pranayam. But..my system was probably so thirsty for the sitali that I did 11 min without even noticing! I combined it with the cd Power Mantras and it was great, I felt this really comforting feeling afterwards. Then I made the mistake of starting the surya kriya but by the second exercise I felt nausia so I stoped and only did my meditation afterwards. So maybe for a while I will just do a combination of the sitali kriya and the gan puttee kriya. I also did 26 sitali breaths before my morning tea and it really pulled all my energy up in the head...The "arise and shine" looks interesting and a bit confusing ...
