Guest guest
Sat Nam Mark, It sounds as if there is an awful lot going on within you at one time. A key part to KY or any yogic practice is to cultivate your ability to witness within....if we don't..we've only practiced half the practice. If you are manic..you may have to really use this skill inorder to know what yoga or meditation are apprporiate for you at any given time. If you feel that your symptoms are a result of subconscious blocks..then the way to work with that is to be able to witness/observe the movings of the subconscious mind during meditations or moments of opened awareness...in order to be able to release those blocks. In my experience...any time I've had "unity" experiences they been given like a gift or a blessing to me so that I can have some sense of what the possiblities are for my state of consciousness. Afterwards...it always comes down to going home and having to do the work of removing what stands in my way, within my consciousness, of living that unity state of consciousness 24/7. The only way to do that..is to have those experiences of unity when they come, to act as a beacon guiding you towards the True Reality and reminding you in those dark moments, what is the "true" nature of reality....and to work consciously with the subconsciousness mind through witnessing and observing it without reaction and allowing it to release, one un promoting thought at a time.... We can practice yoga without doing this and we may experience elevation for a period of time... but the subconscious tendencies will ALWAYS come back to bite you in the ass! There's no skipping this step. It also gives us a framework in which to work with what does come up as a result of our meditations. If you do a med to release the subconscious and the crap doesn't rise either during the med or later that day.. then the med wasn't really successful...so having stuff come up afterwards is great..we just need to learn what to do with what does surface and that's where witnessing comes in etc. For me...my savior has always been the healing art of Sat Nam Rasayan. If you have extra time you may want to pick up this book..."The Anatomy of Miracles" By Subagh Singh Khalsa...He does a wonderful job of teaching the technique within this book and it is something you can practice on yourself as well as others. Practicing SNR strongly developes your ability to witness within without getting reactionary to what you witness....it builds the neutral heart mind. >From what you told us...it seems like things are all over the map for you...so rather than using yoga sets as a cure for all of the different symptoms that are manifesting for you and having to practice a different set for every different sypmtom you have..it might be more beneficial to focus on a few basic things and really make witnessing the subconscious your goal...because that would be the root of the causes of the manifesting symptoms...and I'm not a doctor so I'm just basing this advice on the comment you made that you thought you might be struggling with subconscious blocks. Like Hari Sant said Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Se So Hung is a healing mantra. You may also want to look at the book "The Mind" by Yogi Bhajan in order to increase your understanding of the mind and how to witness it. There are states of consciousness that we cycle through as we meditate and if we can recognize them within our meditation... then we can begin to recognize them in our everday life and work with them effectively and in this way we begin to master consciousness. I've been studying Kundalini yoga for about a year and a half (a rank beginner), what you said about witnessing and observing is so true. My KY teacher stresses it all the time, "you are not your thoughts, get out of your emotions etc..." He loaned me "Anatomy of Miracles" a few weeks ago and I agree that this would be of value to Mark ( a great book which I will study quite a bit). Learning to "get out of your thoughts and emotions" even a little bit helped me through severe panic attacks which used to bother me. And I'm sure would help Mark also with his mood swings and "hallucinations". Even if they don't stop (don't be disheartened) you'll be able to get to the point where they have minimal impact on your life. Which is something most seemingly "normal" people can't say about their subconscious. (again don't be disheartened by this I'm not demeaning or trivializing your condition). Anyway, just keep up the best you can. Joe. p.s. If you can find a class with an experienced KY teacher even if you can only do so occasionally, that would be a great addition to your private practice.
