Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone, I used to be the director of a popular weight loss clinic and I believe that people cannot lose weight and keep it off until they have dealt with the inside problems. Some people use the weight as armour to protect themselves against further hurt in their lives or major decisions that theyre not ready to deal with. eg. A woman who has been sexually abused may subconsiously use the weight to keep perpetrators away (I dont personally think that bigger ladies are unattractive Ive been there myself). We had a lady who lost 150lbs in our clinic and I swear she looked like a brand new person, but you know what she had 10lbs to loose and couldnt go any further. She was in a dead end relationship and had started to get attention from other men, but she didnt feel worthy of any other kind of relationship and so started to sabotage herself , in my humble opinion she was fearful of choice. She eventually put the weight back on. I think the first job with obesity is to find the source of the problem, it could be any number of things. I know that most of the people who came into our clinic (not all of them) had major victim cycles. When they go on yet another diet (and believe me they know them all) they automatically are going into the victim mode yet again. They are full of hope, and may do well for a while and even lose the weight, but if they go back to their old eating habits they will gain it back again. This brings up feelings of unworthines hopelessness and self judgement which eventually leads to anger frustation and resentment towards themselves. This then leads to loss of self esteem causing them to medicate themselves with food to numb the feelings. I think obese people can benefit from the Sat Nam meditation and doing Yoga at their own pace. The Sat Nam meditation can bring up hard things to deal with but it also balances the mind, for myself it brought up lots of happy times that had been overshadowed by sadness. Its made me feel a lot more worthy of looking after myself. I think with the Yoga you have to trust this person to honor the limitations of their body and let that be enough.Sat Nam Anne Marie
