Guest guest
Hi all, I've been lurking for about two months now, and I have appreciated the great wealth of wisdom i've found on this list (and the humanity!). I've been keeping up a pretty steady ky practice on my own since last spring, supplemented with one class per week. I do hatha yoga two days out of the week, but the rest are ky. All of this yoga has made a serious impact on my life. I've been a yoga person for a long time, but never with this much commitment, and never with such profound benefits. The result of all this is that I've decided to drop out of my graduate program at the Master's level (i'm a Classics grad student, and have spent far too long in school, five years already in grad school). I'm going to move to San Francisco, the city which has the greatest appeal to me in this country. Part of my reason for leaving school is that I've always felt conflicted between school and yoga, and feel that my true calling is to teach yoga, preferably ky, although I've taugh hatha before. After I realized that schoolwork was making me physically ill, and yoga was making me cry, I decided it was time to move on to a new stage of life. (an aside -- I did the numerology on 3HO, and it was amazingly accurate in so many ways, but hints at a nature I've only begun to explore with ky. one thing it mentioned is my "gift number" is 5, to teach. I've found this to be true in my experience as a writing and latin teacher, but feel like I need to reach for my path number (6), prayerful living, and teach something that comes from a more spiritual place than proper grammar and ancient civilization (not that the Greeks and Romans didn't have a spiritual side...). Does this make any sense?) So, now I get to my question: I know there are *lots* of ky studios in San Francisco, but I'm going to be broke when I get there, and it's not likely I'll have a very high paying job either (although if any of you have thoughts on how one finds a job and a home when one has the credit record of a grad student, I would be grateful. Maybe the Green energy set would help??). So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a ky studio that has a teacher training program that includes a discount for those who are willing to work (scrub toilets, whatever)? And of course if any of you have advice on coping with the uncertainty of a future that I've decided to jump into without a lifejacket, I'd greatly appreciate it. I get such great inspiration from reading all of your posts, it makes everyday brighter. Thank you all!! love and peace Larissa
