Dear Shiv Antar,

If a tree pose is a challenge did you look at the grounding exercises?

Gururattan has a little section on grounding in a lesson 14 of on-line

Kundalini classes: Prosperity - the Path of Manifestation.

What may be helpful is "a three-legged stool" technique used in ballet

for centering and grounding: you see the light from your

vertebrae/coccyx going straight down to earth (and that is your third

leg). Breathing through that third leg is helpful, too. (As well as

through your feet to earth).

Personally, about twenty years ago in Saint Petersburg, Russia I was a

part of class that taught about 55 exercises for joints flexibility and

youth, it was introduced as very ancient techniques from India. Leaves

me guessing about how much of Kundalini Yoga made it to Russia. Anyway,

there was an exercise of "Walking on your knees". You just stand on you

knees, raise the ankles a little so you could grab them behind you and

walk. Carpet is for sure recommended.

At my 41 I was told by my bodyworker to pay attention to my knees: they

have become a little swollen and arthritic (did not look like a

"teenager knees" anymore); so I started by standing on my knees and

doing hip movements. I increased the time from 5 minutes to 30. I did it

for breaking "the ego" as well. Then I could "walk" on my knees again.

All the extra fluids in the joints have disappeared.

I hope this helps.

Sat Nam,

Jiwan Kaur
