Guest guest
Sat Nam ladies (Ruth, Nichole and Larissa)... I'll jump in with a few of my thoughts on this topic as well! To expand on Nichole's comment...Fear is like the "handmaiden" to the ego...it's the gas that runs that engine...without a healthy flow of fear in your life, the ego would have no recourse, but to step in line with the desires of your Soul and serve your higher self!! Remember we experience "fear" when we fall into a subconscious block within our psyche (meaning we have lost sight of the "Light" for the moment and are in the dark...feeling disconnected from our inner being or the Source). So another way to think of fear when you experience it, is to remember...fear comes from a state of percieved disconnection from the Source.....So the anecdote becomes "create connection" when you find yourself in a state of fear. The amount of prana you bring into the body is directly related to the amount of fear you experience. One way we can connect with the Divine is by breathing deeper and with more awareness. Visualize that pranic light is entering you heart center on the inhale and feel and see it radiate through every part of your body on the exhale....permeating every cell of your being...letting no part of you go untouched by this healing transforming light. Prana has an intelligence to it. If you work with it consciously...allowing it to flow into where ever in your body it needs to go and be awake and aware during this process....you'll begin to unravel your fear. My teacher uses a term in relation to healing... "bringing love to bear"...and basically when you get down to the limiting thought or perception that the fear stems out of...in that moment...bring Love to bear...and the process I described above is how I do that...I simply accept the Love and Light of the Divine to flow through my heart and my being and I ask to be healed in that moment. Frankly..I don't think it matters what it is we're afraid of...I think you work with it in the same way...(and I'm of course not talking about fear based on non delusional circumstances...such as being afraid to jump off a bridge...there's good reason to be afraid in that circumstance!) Now once you are able to work with the feeling of fear abit..so you are no longer drowning in it when it occurs...you have to begin peeling the onion....meditation or meditative healing (SNR)...to begin to touch the original thought program (delusion) that the fear grew out of in the first place. It's important to read sacred writings which constantly point you towards the Truth and remind you of the Truth. Some of us have teachers (representing the Teachings) who are that touchstone for us...some of us have to find our teacher in the teachings (by reading). You need to give yourself experiences of the Truth (The Light), through yoga, meditation, white tantric, reading sacred writings or whatever. With out that experience, in your moments of fear and self loathing/low self esteem you have no beacon to call you home to the Truth and Light. You might as well be blind because you can't see the possibilities pregnant in the present moment, under the grip of the fear you are experiencing. You know the "job" of a Teacher is to shoot an arrow into the heart of the student, exposing them to a moment of the True Light...without that experience, what would "egg" the student on to continue their practice? So a physical teacher can expose you to the "light" but you can also have the experience through reading Sacred writings that constantly remind you of your true reality and not the delusion you currently appear to be living! My answers are always very similar because the "process" always remains the same, no matter what emotion you are experiencing...you work with it in the same way. The "process" begins with opening your awareness and witnessing the contents of the mind and goes from there as we've discussed over the last few days. Once you are aware of the thought pattern it's the job of catching yourself falling into it etc etc. Healing requires that we: 1)Experience our True Nature (as I described above) 2)That we purify ourselves (clean out the mind of limiting thought patterns) 3)That we have a committement to living in the Light. For example..if I wasn't committed to "living the Light" when I found myself in a state of fear...I would automatically begin feeding that fear more thoughts that support my being afraid, the more I fed it, the bigger it would grow and then I have snow ball rolling at this point...demoting behavior would spin off of this..karma would be created for myself and guilt would ensue, locking me into a pattern of addictive behavior trying hopelessly to sooth the feelings of guilt with more demoting action! The wheel spins! And what a drama! If I am committed to the Light...when I experience a state of fear...I recognize it...and I begin to take measures that will move me more towards the light instead of further away, immediately in that moment. So I will check my breath and begin breathing into my heart...I will chant Guru guru wahe Guru guru Ram Das Guru in my head (asking for guidance, as I recognize that I am in fact in the darkness in this moment)....and I open my awareness and feel and allow and witness within and follow the process of releasing the grip of the subconscious. The trick is to hone your awareness so that you can "catch" the first inkling of fear you experience and exercise "right" action in that moment...which would be to "re-connect with the Light". And I understand why we end up discussing the same thing over and over again....as I was sitting in my teacher's office yesterday myself...recieving this same talk about following the process that will re-connect you to the inner being!!!...when we have a subconscious block..the fact is, we can't see clearly in that moment...if it's really entrenched we will often need assistance in the form of counsel and healing to begin to unravel it... We rely on one another to remind ourselves over and over again about what the process is we need to follow to move forward and what is the true nature of our reality. Now what was the process again?? ha ha! Ruth...I hope that helps...in the end it all comes down to getting down to the "house cleaning" of it...clean the subconscious mind. May you be filled with Courage and Light! Sat Sangeet
Guest guest
Sat Nam Sat Sangeet and Nichole Thank you for your insight. You are right, whenever I read sacred writings, books in that direction I feel uplifted. -- Even in my dreams I'm belabouring the self-esteem issue and and I always loose out. Whenever I have one of those dreams I feel rotten and depressed for days. - - As far as " beginning to touch on the original thought program that the fear grew out of in first place" I tried that for years withouth finding a starting point I could put my finger on. I finally decided to stop looking fearing my constant focus upon it might make it worse - - and in retrospect - I think it did. - - It must stem from my childhood, though I cannot put my finger on it - I've even considered a past life. - - I've always mentally thanked my husband for being positive and encouraging in telling me -- "you can do it" - whatever....(in fact, he might be surprised learn of my terrible insecurity and fear). I thank you dearly, I will visualize and breathe the pranic light...... mentally chant Guru guru wahe guru..... take all your suggestions to heart and dilligently work with them. With love and appreciation, Ruth
