Guest guest
Well.....quoting scripture has its own traps and irelevencies, especially since in that passage Guru Nanak was talking about people who were vegetarian and still filled with violence in their mind. He was talking about hypocricy. But are you trying to say that meat eating is not participating in mental creulty? The whole vegetarian ethic is based on eating in such a way that the least amount of cruelty is done to other life forms. And I think you missed my point about creatine. Nothing is missing in the human construct; it is only our inability to metabolize that fact. For a yogi, the goal is to utilize the means if necessary, but it is only a means, impermanent and transitory, not a statement of truth about the human condition. Guest guest
For the sake of the many hundreds of people who read these postings.....lets get our facts straight. Yes creatine is found in meat and fish. It is also found in other forms of protein as well. If there is not enough creatine intake the body will produce it by way of three enzymes, the main one being methionine. As well as being found in fish and meat, it is found in many seeds and grains, milk and beans. In fact, the methionine used in the supplement industry is taken from rice bran. Taking creatine over long periods of time, in large doeses, has been found to inhibit the body's ability to synthesize it naturally. By insuring you get adequate methionine you are always insuring you will get enough creatine. Body builders who take large amounts of creatine, for instance, or people who eat large amounts of meat and fish, then stop, end up with a deficiency because their body has become lazy in respect to producing it naturally, and metabolising it efficiently. Guest guest
Sat Nam Seva Simran, Gordon, posted the quote from Guru Nanak. I'm a vegetarian. "And I think you missed my point about creatine. Nothing is missing in the human construct; it is only our inability to metabolize that fact." --yes I understand that, but I'm in a transition, so until I can do Warriour Workout for 2.5 hrs/day and realize that I am 'That' now, then I'm using creatine as a stepping stone. :-) How is taking creatine different from taking herbs, or vitamins? Guest guest
Yes, as I stated, using creatine as a transitory nutrient can be helpful if necessary. See my other posting for the problems with creatine. As for vitamins and herbs, there can be a problem as well, although that is somewhat different. If you like we can discuss that. The goal is to use supplementation wisely, and substances like creatine, amino acids and suchlike, because they are involved directly in the body's biochemical processes, can be easily abused with potentially undesireable side-effects. If you are cautious of that then there is no problem.
