Guest guest
Hello, i know this is a stupid question but i have to ask. I am taking this website's yoga lessons and want to ask if this yoga has to do with buddishm. I mean i am a christian and i don't know if it is right to do yoga. Or is it for every religion? Secondly, i have done the first exercise in the second lesson (the one that tells you to stay silent for 2-3 mins and concentrate on yourself). I immediately felt outside of this world, felt extremly relaxed and quite sleepy. Maybe it was nothing because i know that its impossible to do it right, the first time you do it (by the way it was my first time i did the exercise). What do you think? Guest guest
Sat Nam Patrick, Kundalini Yoga is a universal practice, bound by no religion, it's for everyone. Guest guest
Sat Naam, Yoga is a science for health and awareness that can be practically applied to any spiritual path. The Buddha was one of the most famous practitioners of yoga, but it was not what he taught necessarily. He just taught "universal truth." It was his followers who created "Buddhism". There are many who believe that Jesus was a yogi. I don't know too many specifics, but I have been told that there are like 13 "lost years" of Jesus' life which he may have spent in the East learning yoga from masters. Many of his miracles documented in the Bible are yogic siddhis. If you read Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, he introduces many Bible verses that echo the ancient teachings of yoga. There are other good books that explore this connection as well. "Take my yoke (yoga!) upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:29 "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:30 WAHE GURU! ranjit > adrcam2000 <adrcam wrote:Hello, i know this is a stupid >question but i have to ask. Guest guest
Sat Nam, For anyone interested in one version of the missing 13 years of Jesus'life there is a great booked called The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ by someone simply named Levi. It was written around 1910. I found it to be a very nice blend of Christian and Eastern concepts. Mark
Guest guest
I would definately second that recommendation Mark. I am actually re- reading it again. The first part of the book, for me, was a bit slow. But the rest of the book had so many sections that really resonated with me. There were several times I wanted to make notes in the columns for future reference. (and I've never done that to a book before). I really like this book and it really gives you a feel for the commonalities between christainity and eastern concetps. Christa
