Guest guest
Sat Nam Sat Mander, Nirmal, Sat Sangeet and others, Yes, you bring your talents to convey in your unique way, the teachings during the class. That is encouraged. However, the minute you start touching a student or being in that student's space, your relationship is changed and perhaps irreversably. This is bigger than think. A student's psyche is cracked wide open and there is a real chance that you'll become part of that student's "movie". As teachers, I feel we already stand a pretty good chance of taking on some Karma. There are many, many cases in the past of teachers doing this and you know what???.... the Kundalini has spit them out. They are no longer teaching Kundalini. They are doing other things......, and probably good things but not Kundalini. I often open class with a few minutes of toning while in a position while on their backs. This gets folks in touch with their body, breath and where they are. It's a bit of a celebration....some play time before we Tune In and get "serious". Another teacher I know will have his students give foot massage to each other before or after class. I have a Gong and that is my chance to "play" a little and that's real cool. There is a music therapist bound up in me, big time!(I have gone to 2 sound healing seminars and do court the idea of studying more)but I can't look to my Kundalini Yoga teaching to be anything but SERVING via Kundalini Yoga. I think the best class I ever taught was when I had this fever, my voice was a little raw and I barely made to class. I tuned in and found myself teaching from this feeble place in myself, a feeble but very present and humble place. I could let myself be a channel as I wasn't thinking about anything but simply being present and in that was a soft and direct steadyness. That was probably my best class ever. BTW, Hari Bhajan Kaur can get us a 30% discount on Paiste Gongs if any of you is ever interested. I might get a second one, while that offer is still out there. Jio!
