Guest guest
Sat nam yogis! I have a slightly off topic (perhaps) question. I'm trying to resolve a historical question regarding a different spiritual tradition to this fine one, and its relation to native Indian tradition. To resolve I'd like to find the answer to the following: How old is Yoga as a technology? Is there any written or archaeological evidence that makes it possible to give it a place in (pre)history as a technology that was being used by people at any given time in (pre)history? If anyone can answer that, it'd be extremely helpful to my research if it could be followed up with references. I'd love to find out! Guest guest
Sat Nam Magpie! this is quoted from Shakta Kaur's book "Kundalini Yoga" : "Early forms of yoga were formulated as long as 10,000 years ago. Some of the oldest records of yoga were found in scrolls from ancient Tibet. As a universally known technology for raising consciousness, yoga has its roots in many ancient cultures, such as the Chinese, Indian and Mayan. Evidence of the concept and practice of meditation was found in the excavated remains of two ancient cities in India, which dated back before 1800 B.C." ....and this is from Guru Dharam and Darryl O'Keeffe's book "Kundalini The Essence of Yoga" : "The first mention of yoga is circa 600BC in the Upanishads and earlier yogic practice, circa 2000 BC, is depicted on seals found in the Indus valley, but it is reasonable to assume that its origins go further back.... ....The 3 original yogic forms, Kundalini, Laya and Tantra, were practiced by communities who celebrated and experienced infinite consciousness during the Sat Yug (the Golden Age of Truth, which ended 40,000 years ago)." Hope this helps..for further evidence think you should contact the authors love and light marily sat atma >find the answer to the following: >How old is Yoga as a technology? >Is there any written or archaeological evidence that makes it possible to give it a place in (pre)history as a technology that was being used by people at any given time in (pre)history?
