Guest guest
Sat Nam, I love your hearts, In order to achieve a deeper and more lasting Peace, we often need to unseat the resting "Peace". So much ill will can be averted if we can unseat our own unconscious assumptions. The Guru and the Vedas say that we can "undo" karmas from seven generations in the past. Karmas that are motions that were set in place long before we were born and govern our present motion and positions in this world. In other words, we have wind in sails that we are not conscious of. Through our disciplines we get to Poke, Provoke, Confront and Elevate ourselves (the art of debate is even taught in Buddhist Monasteries and is part of the spiritual practice) and can reset our course. If our leaders tell us we are "Good and Right" we have no reason to do this introspection and the cycle of violence, both internal and external, continues on for the next generation to deal with. It's up to the individuals. Wahe Guru, Dharam The below is the conversation between a Buddhist Abbot and his class from the movie "The Cup". Abbot: Can we cover the earth in leather so it's soft wherever we go? Student: No. Abbot: So what can we do? Student: Cover our feet in leather? Abbot: Yes, covering our feet in leather is equal to covering the earth with leather. Likewise, enemies are as limitless as space. All enemies cannot possibly be overcome. Yes, if one can just overcome hatred, this will be equal to overcoming all enemies. All that is unsatisfactory in this world& all the fear and suffering that exists& clinging to the "I" has created it. What am I to do with this great Demon? To release myself from harm&. and to free all others from their suffering& let me give myself away& and love others as I love myself. If a problem cannot be solved& why be unhappy? And if it cannot be solved& what is the use of being unhappy? *
