Guest guest
Greetings Sat Sangeet, The past few days my thoughts have been similar...as far as the being vs. doing! How do we just sit in our practice and "Be" without questions like this plaguing our intellectual mind. It seems when I search I push whatever I'm searching for away. My feelings lately of being held back by a thread, I can't "see" from what? none the less my inherent way of doing, seeking seems to be preventing me from this new (?) experience. I need to see the path I'm on, to see where what I'm doing now is leading.... and then there are the lovely moments when I can watch everything unfold and not feel so caught up in "fighting the good fight!" When I try to understand with my intellect, through study (which by the way I feel is important) I seem to understand less than when I enjoy my practice without any agenda and watch the light shine! All Blessings to you, Dear Sat Sangeet! Rebecca
Guest guest
Greetings to you as well...Rebecca! I know....my teacher says the mind (thinking), is necessary to point your consciousness in the direction of what it is you want to understand, but then you have to let go and allow the understanding to come....easier said then done! ha ha! (as I go thinking, thinking thinking!! Ha ha!) I was in a class and someone asked my teacher, whether all of these questions we ask him about, actually lead us towards understanding...or are they just smoke screens we throw up in order to aviod the understanding? His answer...sometimes yes, sometimes no. Some questions, when answered, will expand your consciousness, others will twist you all up. I realize I ask the same question, a thousand times, of my teacher....and it's not that I don't know what the answer will be, when I ask it...it's that I don't "understand" the answer yet....so it has no "sticking" power for me.....but...from experience I know, when I finally hit the magic number of times asking....my consciousness will have caught up with the answer...and the lights will come on! ha ha! It's a balance, as you say, between being and doing. To have the wisdom to recognize when thinking has met it's limitation and when it's time to simply be and let an understanding come to you. I'm going to pay more attention to this dynamic and begin to notice more when I may be limiting myself through thought, rather than simply directing my consciousnessin a particular direction?? Guest guest
Sat Nam Sat Sangeet, "it's that I don't "understand" the answer yet....so it has no "sticking" power for me.....but...from experience I know, when I finally hit the magic number of timesasking....my consciousness will have caught up with the answer...and the lights will come on! ha ha!" --I enjoy all of your questions, well most of them. And its ok to ask them, it frees me up to do other things because I realize that you'll eventually get around to asking some I would have asked! Just please remember to post them here. BTW, what is your record for consecutive questions?? Blessings Deva
Guest guest
I was taught many years ago (pre KY) to use all my faculties to find the answer to a question but then to let go completely and wait...the correct answer will come when the right moment arrives. It took a lot of practice but I have found it to be true - often the understandings come at the most unexpected moments in the most unexpected ways, and then there is no doubt that it IS the correct answer. At least for that time and that level of understanding. There are no absolutes I find - one progresses and becomes capable of greater awarenesses and understandings. Guest guest
Deva! Glad that you asked...144! Ha ha! It's funny, all week I've had the thought.."that's funny, we haven't heard from Deva lately?" Guest guest
Sat Nam Avtar:What you right below is very nice. It is my experience too - and when something does not happen - the tendency to want it to happen is there too - due to the immature ego. Nevertheless what you say below is very true, and especially your last sentence reminds me of a story I had heard of Gandhi. Apparently, he had planned a long protest march and people had left their work, etc to join this march, however, at the last moment, Gandhi decided that the timing of the march was not right. People close to him protested pointing to the people who had gathered, to which G replied, I do not know absolute truth, God knows absolute truth. My notion of truth is what I see now, so do not ask me to be consistent, I can only be truthful to this moment (all related from memory, so I am obviously not quoting his exact words).Very nice message.Sat NamLyn Avtar Kaur <avtarkaur wrote: I was taught many years ago (pre KY) to use all my faculties to find the answer to a question but then to let go completely and wait...the correct answer will come when the right moment arrives.
