Guest guest
I wanted to share that I have now completed two years of performing Sat Kriya daily. I started at 11 minutes per day, worked up to 22 minutes, and have been doing 31 minutes per day since mid-October. When I started, I enjoyed the process of working through resistance's, both physical and mental, each day. I still enjoy that benefit, but the truly gratifying effects that the incredible power of the practice has slowly, but unmistakably, built over time have been the solid grounding and centering of my consciousness in a quiet, unshakable and self-sustaining spiritual beingness that allows me to much more readily deal with whatever comes my way each day with heart and equanimity. When I started, I never thought I would have the strength or the time be able to maintain 11 minutes per day, let alone build to 31 minutes per day, but the practice itself carried me, made room for itself in my life and gently prompted me when the time was right to expand my time commitment. I am now continuing on to complete a full 1000 days (and maybe more)! I am deeply grateful to Yogi Bhajan for bringing us such an incredibly powerful and effective spiritual technology. Sat Nam! Guest guest
Dharam, First let me say that I really enjoy your postings to the list very much. I am always amazed by your depth of knowledge and keen insight. I started doing kundalini yoga again as a regular sadhana 8-10 years ago. I started with just three spinal flex exercises and slowly expanded from there to about 9 different exercises (including the navel setting routine). I would occasionally do kriyas, but not on a regular basis. I usually incorporate readings of scripture or other inspired texts, as well. Two years ago I felt moved to start doing Sat Kriya. I had been doing "contemplative prayer" on a sporadic basis, but found that it made me sleepy and stodgy. I suspected that a kriya would result in more progress in consciousness growth and integration because kriyas incorporate asana, a manipulation of internal physical and spiritual energies, a mantra and a meditational focus. I set out doing Sat Kriya with no particular goal or intention to continue for any specific number of days. I just wanted to enjoy the experience as I went along and see where it took me. I was hooked from the first, and as it carried me for 40 days, 60 days, 6 months, through to 2 years. I have had no desire to stop. It just keeps making me stronger and more integrated; my consciousness feels smoother and more even. I actually feel about 1/2 my age most of the time. I know now I am to go for 1000 days or more. Somewhere along the line I checked my numerological readings on the ky site and they confirmed that I would benefit from doing 1000 days of a kriya. Each day I am amazed and grateful to God and Yogiji for the miraculous teachings he has brought to the "Children of the Age of Aquarius." Guest guest
What is Sat Kriya? I've been looking through all my Kundalini books and cannot find the meditation. Thanks in advance for a reference. Sat Nam, Sahaj Kaur > Sat Nam Steve Porter > Where/when did the inspiration come from to begin? > peace, > Dharam > > A. Guest guest
SAT KRIYA >>>>>>> kysets/satkriya.html Sat Nam Steven, Thanks for taking the time to share a bit of your story. You've approached this with a good balance and you've got good focus. A. Steven Porter wrote: > First let me say that I really enjoy your postings to the list very > much. I am always amazed by your depth of knowledge and keen insight. Hey, I'm glad to share and communicate on this list. Big thanks to Gordon, Gururattan and all the other great folks. It's good to know there are folks actually out there reading them. I used to do radio and I would always wonder if there were actually people listening in. Occasionally, just to check, I'd do something outlandish like say, on the air, "I sure could use a Chocolate milkshake, about now" . Ooh Boy, I stopped doing that one day after a woman came to the station with a milkshake in hand at 10pm. Seriously, I get a bunch of good out of trying to put all that I've learned and experienced into to some kind of word formation that's meaningful to others. It's been said that if you really want to master something, then you have to teach it. Keep on 'til your 1,000 days is done, the keep on doing as a expression of gratitude. You can back off on the times. I would add "One Minute Breath" after your layout to really refine and digest your experience. Five to eleven minutes will be nice. Gurucharan Singh recently said that we should all be doing this kriya at least 3 minutes a day just to keep the pelvic bowl balanced. There are a whole lot of hormonal situations in this area that can really wear us out if we don't stay on top of things Sat Nam, Dharam
Guest guest
SAtnam! Every one! I M practicing Kundalini Yoga. Here I seek a guidance & comments. For practicing Satkriya we r advised, inter alia, to chant "Sa-----t" whiling inhaling and pull at navel point & chant "Nam" on exhaling and do it about 8 times in 10 seconds. Obviously I find this Kriya most effective in controlling my perverted desire and i want to do it more & more for my spiritual advancement. However I think that chanting of "Saat--Nam" may be 3/4 times or even less per 10 seconds instead of 8 times per 10 seconds, if it is practices on regular basis for long times. Comments and guidances in the matter are solicited. With warm regards. RN Gupta
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Ram, I have been practicing sat kriya daily for quite a while now. When I started, knowledgeable people on this list advised me not to worry about the breath and to let it come naturally. That is what I have done, and I have found that the breath will find its own rhythm and need not be strictly coordinated with the chanting of Sat and Nam. I think setting a pace of pulling in the navel while chanting "Sat" and releasing on "Nam" 8 times in every 10 seconds is a good guideline, but once again, you should not be overly strict about adhering to that pace. Let the rhythm develop naturally. Finally, the way I learned to chant during sat kriya was to pronounce "Sat" in a short, percussive snap as the navel is pulled in fairly forcefully, and "Nam" in a more subdued tone -- sort of a sigh -- as the navel is released. When I do it, I exhale a bit on both "Sat" and "Nam." I hope this is helpful. Steve Porter
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Steve is the man to advise you. He has been practicing Sat Kryia for over 1000 days. I agree with his answers. Obviously I find this Kriya most effective in controlling my perverted desire and i want to do it more & more for my spiritual advancement. * Sat Kriya rechannels the sexual energy up the spine. You might want to consider redefining how your view your sexual energy. It is creative energy and when used wisely can be the source of our spiritual awakening, longevity and mental acuity. Sat Kriya is the exercise that makes this all possible. Sat nam, Gururattan Kaur
