Guest guest
Sat Nam all, I have been thinking a lot recently about the ancestors of Kundalini Yoga, and more specifically the Golden chain. When we tune in with Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, one of the things this is supposed to help us do, is to connect with the teachers, the ancestors of this spiritual lineage, who have gone before for guidance. Yogi Bhajan is our link... but who came before him? Does anyone know who Yogi Bhajan's teacher was, or who their teachers were? Does anyone have any experience of feeling their presence or guidance when tuning in? In truth, ~*~ Krishan Shiva Kaur ~*~
Guest guest
Sat nam Krishan Shiva, I'm not able to list the golden chain...but in my experience, at different times I am guided by what feels like the presence of different teachers...anywhere from Yogi Bhajan, my own teacher.... to Guru Ram Das (being the most prominent for me)...and aslo teacher's who would be considered in some's view, from another path.... Defintely the 10 Sikh Guru's are part of the Golden chain...but it wouldn't have begun with them...the lineage would go back to the beginning of time.??? Guest guest
That's a huge question! A question I will not want to answer as well as I could simply because the less you know, the more you'll be with your experience. If I tell you my experience, then you be looking for something specific...so I wont tell you (as difficult as that is for me). (this is from Sardarni Premka Kaur Khalsa) Harbhajan Singh Puri was born into this God's world on August 26, 1929, just at the time of sunset, in the little village of Kot Harkarn, Tehsil Wazirabad, in the district of Gujaranwala in what is now Pakistan, but at that time was still a part of India. He was the first born son into a family which had prayed for the birth of a male heir for over twenty-five years. With one of those prayers had gone a promise, that such a son would be carried to the shrine of Vaishnoo Devee to give thanks for the blessing of his birth and to give him the immediate darshan of that holy place. So it was that a tiny infant, Harbhajan Singh, was tied to his father's chest, nestled under his flowing beard, and carried up the steep slopes to the cave of Vaishnoo Devee in fulfillment of that sacred promise. Although young Harbhajan Singh was but an infant whose age was measured in days rather than months or years, the impact of that first visit, the sacredness of that prayer and the determination to fulfill that commitment were events which were to shape his entire philosophy and experience of life. Thus began a practice, for the man known as Harbhajan Singh, of visiting every possible holy shrine and holy person, and of pursuing the study of all the teachings, scriptures and technologies of the religions of the world." There is so many of these kinds of stories in the book entitled "The Man Called the Siri Singh Sahib". Guru Ram Das has given him much comfort and insight at some very, very crucial times in his life. He consider Guru Ram Das a personal Saint of his. This is a key.
