Guest guest
Sat Nam David, Dharam, Yeah now we got a thread! Famous Doors lines, or quotes and tie it in with Kundalini... "Five to one baby, one in five no one here gets out alive..." --so practice KY and you'll be ready for the next life, he must have had KY in mind, come on! "There are things none, and things unknown, in between are the doors." --obviously, he saying to practice KY so you can keep the doors open! "The Doors puts me into a very exciting trance while i listen and dance to them, its very beautiful, but owe most of the energetic ecstasy to the 4/4 breath, its my favorite single the breath in, i keep having a vision of this woman and my heart devotes all love to her and for that moment i experience the highest state of love i have ever felt, it is bliss. Could this be the true love for God simply experienced through a physical being of the opposite sex?" --vision of this woman? Could be the Divine Mother, all women embody Her. Be well Deva

Guest guest
You know how the day destroys the night Night divides the day Tried to run Tried to hide Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side We chased our pleasures here Dug our treasures there But can you still recall The time we cried Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Yeah C'mon, yeah Everybody loves my baby She got, she got, she got She got high I found an island in your arms Country in your eyes Arms that chain us Eyes that lie Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through Made the scene Week to week Day to day Hour to hour The gate is straight Deep and wide Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through, break on through, break on through Break on through Yeah. Guest guest
Sat Nam!!! Wow! I didnt know we had any Doors fans in the building! haha! It's so groovy to see people responding. I would just like to inform everyone about how i actually got started on KY, i was watching "Woodstock" the movie and some guy was teaching THE WHOLE CROWD KY, so i was brought to kundaliniyoga.org and i dont regret the day i came here! Anyways, it was the mentality of the video that pulled me into changing my whole way of life, that which is full of meaning and bliss. The mystery of Jim Morrison has always fascinated me and still mystifyes all who encouter his works. It is also to my knowledge that he embodied the Greek god Dionysos- god of wine, ecstacy and rebirth. Could it be possible that he actually became Dionysos by breaking through to the other side and giving every ounce of his being to him? Or was he just insane on drugs? I guess we will never know ( I personally dont beleive in gods, just one, God). But the state of ecstacy that The Doors places me in is beyond any other musical experience. The music itself actually awakens my kundalini. Its so beautiful! Peace, love and light! Guest guest
Jim was certainly into excess and he looked very similar to the classical descriptions of that particular god, so he probably embodied some of that spirit for sure. I don't think he was insane. I think he had one hand on the other side, however, and was filled with all kinds of mystic rifs, both poetically and musically. He also really embodied the Uranus spirit which was so unique and powerful during that time, and which was also heavily stimulated by him growing up in an authoritarian, military type family - the antithesis of Uranus, which likes to challenge authority. The interesting thing about that is that Uranus also governs kundalini. > _______________ > STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* > http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
I love all you hippies/yogis for being here! I'm very excited about this doors thread. I'm always looking for an occasional non-typical yoga song to play for my class. The students seem to really respond to this in a positive way. Recently, I had them do a very difficult inner anger kriya and played Barry White. They smiled almost all the way through the pain. "Break On Through" is perfect. Thanks for the inspiration! I've loved Jim since I was twelve. I read his book "No One Here gets Out Alive" You Doors fans out there who haven't read this should check it out. Guest guest
Ummm...how enlightening! I don't know what it is about this "Doors" thread...but I'm starting to get awfully giggly over it!! It's giving me the giggles!.... giggle, giggle... Seva Simran..you mentioned Uranus before...awhile back in another post...I think it was in reference to something going on astrologically at the time....can you recap for us what any of that...or what significance the Uranus spirit has for us right now? The "challenging authority" line struck a chord with me. Thanks, Sat Sangeet Jim was certainly into excess and he looked very similar to the classical descriptions of that particular god, so he probably embodied some of that spirit for sure. Guest guest
Oh my God! Dev Dharam you're killing me in more than a couple of different ways! You got me laughing over here! But/and, as much I love my massive eclectic music collection, including Barry White and Captain Beef Heart, I refrain from playing pretty anything but mantra and music that has "the Naad". Real minimalist, tasteful space and nothing more. I keep looking for Dharmic music that will have some flavor that I would enjoy outside the class environment, to play during class. I can even let myself believe that Mata Mandir Singh is the Kundalini answer to "Sweet Baby" James Taylor. It's a constant search. I have also given myself a little more room with non lyrical instrumentals. Recently I've found some funky Bhangra beats by Bally Sagoo (Sagoo Loops) to play with. We've had some discussion of what is appropriate during class. This is one of those areas where I want to be real careful and ask myself, "Am I still within the Grace of the Golden Link", where whatever might come up for a student is within that protection or am I trying score personal points of some sort. This is real tricky. Be very careful as you may have more "friends" than you, as an individual, can handle. If you play by the guidelines there will be rewards! Promise! Try it for a while. That said, I do have to ask which Barry White did you play and where in the Inner Anger Kriya did you play him? You really, really got me laughing over here! We Dharam's especially have to check in with ourselves. I don't want to be the heavy but I guess I am. I know it's only "occasional" but it's a slippery slope. Guest guest
Dharam, Me Dev Daharam here to say thank you very much for your post. Your laughing made me laugh again and it feels really good! I know we have to be aware of the effects the music we play has on the students. I am confident that he occasional music played serves only the highest purpose of the teachings. The decision is coming from a much higher place than my ego. It comes through me not from me. Yes, this is a very controversial subject but It was kind of a uranian thread so I thought it seemed appropriate. I promise to continue to ask the guru's guidance on the matter. Dharam, It sounds like you have great versatility and taste in music. It shows you have a big heart and an open mind. Perhaps we can discuss this subject further at Solstice? The Barry White song ............ my first, my last, my everything and the answer to all my dreams you're my sun, my moon, my guiding star my kind of wonderful, that's what you are i know there's only, only one like you theres no way they could have made two you're you're all i'm living for your love i'll keep for evermore, you're the first my last my everything
Guest guest
Sat nam Dev Dharam, Reading your post just reminded me of something that was said in a class I attended last night. "two people can make or take the same action, but the karmic result would be different, for each person, based on the underlying agenda that the actions grew out of". And I just had the thought, that serving "the times", is the ability to tune into the guidance that comes from the Guru and apply it in whatever way is appropriate and will serve the highest good in that moment.....sometimes what looks like the most insane or unconscious action in any given moment, is actually the most conscious choice one can make. When I read the Barry White Lyrics you posted...what I heard was a devotional love song to the Divine. May we all be in service of the Light, Sat Sangeet Kaur
