Guest guest
"If I, with my body, can conquer the chilliness of the water, I can take away the chilliness of my life" ---Yogi Bhajan Morning tips First, before you get out of bed you need to set your navel point. The "Wake up Series" in "Transitions to a Heart Centered World" is as right as brushing your teeth. Second, brush your teeth and "Gag" using Alum and salt. This gagging will clear your sinus, throat and upper respiratory. You should tear from the eyes. (Ear, eyes, nose and throat are all connected). The sniffles may very well be your sinus system needing to clear. Do it before you shower. Third, massage your whole body with a light oil (sesame or almond are warming, olive is considered cool in Ayurveda). This will shield you a little from the shock of the cold. The Wet Duck effect. Fourth, put on shorts with legs. No Speedo. This will protect the nerves and meridians in the inner thigh that regulate mineral balance. You don't want an rapid temperature changes in this area. Fifth, allow water to hit your body in stages. With back to shower head, first let water hit soles of left foot and then move up the left leg to the butt cheek, then repeat with the right side. Next, let water hit left palm and move up to the shoulder. Repeat with the right side. Now allow the water to hit your lower back working your way up to the shoulders. All this time you are doing breath of fire (BOF) with a good navel pump and massaging where the water is hitting. Next, turn around and let water hit the front of the legs, hands and navel. Keep up with BOF! Wet your face but never the top of your head with cold water. This gradual approach is alerting your body to the change and allowing for you to remain in touch with your body/being. We don't want to dissociate. There's enough schism in the world. Now you are ready the wet your whole body. By keeping the BOF, you are constantly resetting and relating through the navel, through your source. This is sort of like "defragging" your hard drive. After a couple minutes you will become neutral, then warm, then bored......maybe. It's a process. You will have great flushing to your skin. Dry off and rap yourself in one of those big beach towels or a blanket. Go lay down and just allow yourself to integrate. This good maintenance and is kind of luxurious. People ask when they should bath with soap. I do that before I go to bed or after a workout. The last time I posted I introduced myself as my e mail name.Yogi Bhajan suggested that cold showers would be good for too much passion and flakiness. I wonder if that means I should be doing the cold showers more than just at the morning wake up. Also are there any contraindications as an example while menstruating? Thank you.
