Guest guest
Hi there, Bikram Yoga is the socalled 'Hot Yoga'. There are done 26 Yoga exercises in a heated room, approx 32 degr. celsius warm, in a series of aerobic like lessons, lasting normally 1 to 1.5 hours. The main intention is to sweat and to strenghten the body. The exercises are coming originally from Hatha yoga and should be familiar to most of us. As there is no meditation, mantra, breath control or anything else, there might be very little spiritual growth. Also there is no teaching re Maya, self consciousness, clearing or healing. To my humble opinion its just some fancy sports labelled as yoga. Nothing to 'unite'. But it's quite good for the body and fun for the people. No 'spiritual burdon' - lot's of people like this approach.. Also the lessons are pretty expensive, as the studio's are organized in a franchise system. Look in the archives, there had been some more posts re bikram yoga and its founder, who is right now a multi-millionaire in the US. Here in Shanghai there is also a Bikram Yoga studio and the owner is quite aggressive marketing troughout the expat community.
