Guest guest
Sat Nam Everyone... I have been working with the Shabd more consciously in the last year for sure, but more so in the last month. (Shabd for anyone who doesn't know this term, is the underlying sound current or primal vibration) Around this time last year, I recieved an insight that my chanting was "unrefined"....I passed this info on to my teacher and he began to work with us, in the refinement and tuning into the subtlety of chanting....merging with the sound current. And now we have begun a meditation class which is focused on the Shabd and the Aquarian age....and I also had the pleasure of attending a workshop, on toning this weekend....this combined with my music lessons.... and I'm getting quite an education in the sound current from ALL sides! ha ha! At this workshop on harmonic toning, having the experience of taking the word or meaning out of the sound you are making....for instance, you may be just making a vowel sound....gave me the opportunity to really witness the effects of different vibrations in the body and space. This experience along with the events of this last week, must have really opened something up inside of me...because all of a sudden I'm experiencing the naad in a meriad of ways. A couple of months ago I asked my teacher, "Is it possible for us to communicate using the shabd?" And he replied, "not really, because it is the language of consciousness, it doesn't have a grammatical form or structure to it". For instance the lyrical nature of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is written in the shabd,...as are the KY mantra's, as they come from that source. But at the time I didn't believe him...because there is something inside of me that says "yes...you can communicate in the shabd".... I think I've gained some clarity on this. Perhaps we can't have a converstaion about cheese burgers, using the Shabd....but...I believe the Shabd can be present, underlying the words one uses and their state of consciousness when they speak or use those words. For instance, I have begun to notice the shabd present in other sounds (not only KY mantras), in outer sights and inner sights and in experiences? What am I talking about? I'm not so sure myself yet! It began with a hymn I was given to learn, by Mozart, it's written in latin....and I was to learn it because I am studying harmonies right now. What I noticed was when the melody line and harmony came together with the right amount of awareness...the shabd was present in that moment....I felt it in the expansion of the space and I could hear the primal vibration that these two lines sung together created.....the interesting part for me was, it is specific to this piece of music...I haven't noticed it with the other harmonies I have been practicing...and intuitively, I know it is related to the intervals between the notes that he uses, that creates this effect. The two lines represent the ida and pingala and when they are in perfect harmony we experience the lighting of the central channel...the trinity of forces, as my teacher calls it. Again, yesterday I was doing a meditation....16 reps of wahe guru/breath...and the phone rang, the answering machine picked it up, it was my husband and he began to leave a message.....he wasn't speaking "shabd" as I was at the time, but as his voice overlayed the mantra I continued to chant....the mixture of those two sound currents...culminated in a moment of light and bliss, for as long as his message lasted? (Is this a reaction, because he is my lover? and his voice sends me into a state of ecstasy?...it's possible?...but I tend to think the message was more around understanding the making of Divine melodies.... and what are the ingredients that form this Divine experience.) Well... I suppose I will just have to continue to "keep one eye open" (yes...pun intended! Ha Ha ha! a little yogic humour!) and keep noticing whatever there is to notice as this experience unfolds! Guest guest
All sounds have a naad, what the sound current of the words imply in respect to consciousness, distinct from what the words mean in the language you speak.
