Guest guest
Sat Nam, Is it only recommended for 3 days? I have been doing it already for a week. I've felt very good, with ocasional headaches, which I've attributed to the release of toxins. Many thanks, Tannia "Each relationship you have with another person reflects the relationship you have with yourself." — Alice Deville
Guest guest
Three days for women is enough. Men can do eleven days. If you want to really go deep and long in this vein, check out the Melon Diet. It may be in the Archives. It certainly is in "The Ancient Art of Self Healing". I think Ranjit did it last summer. Regarding your headaches, are/were you a coffee drinker? Way Late, gotta run, Dharam Singh P.S. What is your yoga routine? Maintain the earth/water element. Melon really opens up that Air element and maybe ether. tannia wrote: > Sat Nam, > Is it only recommended for 3 days? Guest guest
Sat Nam, I will check the Melon Dieto on the "The Ancient Art of Self Healing". So should I start slowly to get off the fast? I used to be a coffee drinker, not anymore. My yoga routine is the set for "Getting the Body out of Distress" (out of the manual Reaching Me in Me) and as my meditation I am doing breathwalk. How do I maintain the earth/water element?? I usually drink at least 4 liters of water a day. Many thanks. Blessings. Tannia

So should I start slowly to get off the fast? Assuming you're a vegetarian, just eat lightly the first couple of days. I am not aware of any particular protocol in breaking this cleanse. Some people while doing it the cleanse will sprinkle black pepper on the watermelon. I didn't for my 3 days and broke it with a cup of Yogi tea, home brew. > > I used to be a coffee drinker, not anymore. That was a guess. Some people for whom caffeine has become part of their metabolism, will react to the elimination of it. Things need to be gradual for all of us. To ignore is inviting trouble. The main thing for anyone to remember is that when we cleanse, a great deal of toxins will be released from the tissue and into the blood where it is then carried to the organs of elimination. It is essential that the blood ph be alkaline. This acts as a buffer for the toxins which are usually acidic. Without that buffering effect various symptoms such as headaches, colds, diarrhea will occur. There are a few tricks to making sure this doesn't happen. I will elaborate later. Keep in mind that Yogiji had said that 3 days was enough for a woman. I am humble in saying that I do not understand why some things are the way they are but I am hoping to know....one day. It's rationale, I'm sure, rooted in Ayurveda. > > My yoga routine is the set for "Getting the Body out of Distress" (out of > the manual Reaching Me in Me) and as my meditation I am doing breathwalk. > How do I maintain the earth/water element?? The idea is to bring in the "Being" aspect. So much of our practices can be "doings". It's a fine line. Kirtan is the way we remove Ama (loosely means residue) from the mind. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I had a great experience with the melon diet, it is a huge commitment though. The hardest part is coming off the fast, be very careful and take the full 3 days to break the fast according to the directions. Good luck! Guest guest
Sat Naam Actually there are two different melon diets/fasts we have been discussing -- you can do one of JUST watermelon for detoxing, the one Dharam was talking about where women can do 3 days and men should do 11. The other Melon Diet is a two-week program where you eat different melons every day: first day canteloupe, 2nd day watermelon, 3rd day papaya, 4th day lemon water, 5th day just water, then repeat that sequence backwards. I think that is the right order, anyway it is in the Ancient Art of Healing book. Summer is a good time to eat these fruits!
