Beginning with Aakar, the basic fundamental for developing the true voice, practice continues throughout the day. Through intensive sessions of exercising the voice in scales (Raga) and rhythm (Tal) as well as listening to beautiful compositions in the original style, students are being prepared for this beautiful, authentic style. About the Teacher: Bhai Baldeep Singh is a young man whose family heritage and personal choices have placed him in a unique position of mastery of this sacred tradition. He represents the thirteenth generation in a family of master musicians known for their adherence to the original kirtan maryada, which can be traced back to Guru Arjan Dev Ji himself. His illustrious granduncles, Bhai Gurucharan Singh and Bhai Avtar Singh, who sing at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, New Delhi, are his first teachers.
