Guest guest
I am new to KY and have been looking for local instruction. I have found only one possibility, but the instructors are not 3HO certified and have no affiliation with Yogi Bhajan. The instructors are certified at Yasodhara Ashram in Kootenay Bay, British Columbia. Swami Radha was trained in India in 1955 by Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh. The instructors follow Swami Radha's book Kundalini Yoga for the West. I am not familiar with this organization, book or author. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or advice that anyone may have on this type of KY instruction or organization. I have understood that KY by Yogi Bhajan was the only true KY there is. Am I mistaken? I plan to locate the book to compare it to my current collection (which are all 3HO certified books) to see how it stacks up. I am grateful for any information anyone can provide. Guest guest
Sat Nam Abbey, I have the book you mention as well as another book of hers. I have spoken to someone who has taken the kind of Kundalini yoga that she had taught. They described it as holding postures and then taking time between postures to be meditative. Your right it's not KY as taught by Yogi Bhajan....is it valid?.....if you feel drawn to explore it, then I would suggest that you try it out and contrast it with the benefits you recieve from practicing Ky as taught by YB and make an informed choice based on your experience? I believe people are drawn to different types of yoga at different times....I think it's important to practice what your are drawn towards...but leave the door open.....so if you come across something else that may serve to uplift your conscious more effectively...you always have the option of....choosing again. KY as taught by Yogi Bhajan....is put together in such a way to prepare the body gradually for the awakening of the kundalini energy.....it's important to note that all types of yoga work to raise the kundalini energy....I would imagine none so effectively as KY as taught by Yogi Bhajan ( I have no proof of this..it is only my belief).
