Guest guest
SAT NAM, I have been a conflict in me since young about asking/not asking for boons/gifts from God. I for some reason do not like to ask to God to let a certain thing happen the way I/We want.I feel by doing so I am limiting myself and also feel that asking might be a hurdle in what could have been more better for me otherwise. On the other hand I have read about power of manifestation where in I feel since we create our own reality..why not project the thoughts/feelings and intentions the way we want for the good cause of my family and also associate that with prayer from God so that it gets more powerful and manifests for the better of my family. I am really perplexed here as to which is the right thing to do in the eyes of God. Can somebody shed light ont this? Guest guest
Sat Nam Akkama, I think asking for what you want is appropriate...but in the same breath realizing that what you "personally" want may not be in the best interests of all involved....when praying for outcomes that involve others a safe bet is to pray for light or healing to be sent in whatever way will be most appropriate...in that way you are sending a blessing without orchestrating how that blessing may manifest. If there is something specific you want for yourself ...ask! But be open to the feedback that comes to you. If what you ask for is what will serve your highest interests in this moment...that is what you will recieve. if it needs to be tweeked in some way..or you're just totally off the track, in terms of what you think you need...then that feedback will be given to you as well. When you pray...release the intention...and let it go. If you don't involve your will, in trying to make a certain outcome occur, then you are free to be open to the feedback that will come to you based on your request. If ego and will gets involved...then you will be forcing in some way....you may have a strong enough will to manifest what you want, but in time, if it isn't what is truely best for you.....it will dismantle itself in some way...the train will come off the track and the universe will give you an opportunity...to make another choice. Guest guest
Dear Akkama, This has been an issue with me too. I have always seen a majority of my elders and folks at home asking for something material for God. As a youngster i followed this 'custom' blindly. But something never flet right about this. I never felt natural doing this. And when I grew older, I gave up this practice, more so becasue it never worked! i am firm beleiver in the law of karma, which says that we will recieve rewards (or penalties) in proportion to the good karma or bad karma done by us in our past life(ves). So then how can a mere prayer change this?? So now, when I ask God for something, it is strenghth to survive through the rough times that come in the furure. frankly, I have never been able to digest the philosophy of "Ask, and you shall receive", probably becasue it hasn't worked for me. from what i understood for Sat Sangeet's mail, we are free to ask what we want, but make sure it's in our's and everyone elses' best interest. I think that tantamounts to not wishing for material pleasures. kidly clarify if I am wrong. Sat Nam Preeti Calendar - Free online calendar with sync to Outlook. http://calendar. Guest guest
Dear Preeti, I was taught that it is wrong to ask God for things for either oneself or others, simply because we have no way of knowing what is in anyone's best interest. Maybe the very things we want, such as someone being healed of an illness , is the the very thing they need for their soul's developement. So I was taught to pray in all instances that God's Will be done, and it has certainly worked for me. It's natural to want to ask for help, but this way there is no chance of ego getting in the way. I had a conversation about this with the mantra teachers at Master's Touch and they told me that the KY mantra for this is Ek ong kar sat gur pasad sat gur pasad ek ong kar. Guest guest
SAT NAM Preeti, Thank you and Sat Sangeet for your reponses. I disagree with you when you say "Mere prayer". It is said that "Prayers can move mountains" and has been proved by many known great men/woman. I agree with you in the fact that "Complete self surrender to God " is required and things will manifest in the highest interests of the indiviusal but I dont see anything wrong in asking for the health and welfare of the family/friends etc. I have come across 2 wonderful fomulae which say "Frequency + Intention= Healing" and "Visualization + Vocalization = Manifestation" I just want to clarify that I wanted to understand the fineline of separation between asking and not asking and also "ASKING" was meant towards family welfare and not any materialistic gain. Sat Nam Akkama, You may interested in a very good book on the subject of prayer, The Isaiah Effect, Decoding the Lost Science of Prayer and Prophecy by Gregg Braden. Guest guest
Sat Nam Theresa, Here is the information you have requested (and more): The Isaiah Effect by Gregg Braden Publisher: Three Rivers Press; (July 10, 2001), New York, New York ISBN: 060980796X Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/060980796X/qid=1055428163/sr=8-1/r\ ef=sr_8_1/103-3742490-7476603?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Here is a short excerpt from the book: " Quantum science suggests the existence of many possible futures for each moment of our lives. Each future lies in a state of rest until it is awakened by choices made in the present. A two-thousand-year-old scroll written by the prophet Isaiah describes precisely such possibilities in a language that we are just beginning to understand. In addition to sharing his visions of our time, Isaiah described the science of how we choose which future we experience. Each time we do so, we experience the Isaiah Effect (Braden)." and from the back of the book: "...Weaving state-of-the-art research with his extensive knowledge of the ancient Essenes (the creators of the scroll texts), Braden invites us on a journey where science and miracles are merged into a new wisdom - and lead to a startling conclusion. He suggests that Isaiah, the first Old Testament prophet, left precise instructions to the people of the future describing an unconventional mode of prayer (Braden)..." I highly recommend this book as a means to understanding prayer. The information has changed the way I pray and the way I view the world around me.
