Guest guest
Can anyone clarify why books say to pronounce Sat Nam as "but mom," and I hear KY teachers greeting each other "sot mom?" Is there a difference? Please explain. Thanks, Clark _____________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! Guest guest
Saught Nom!!! The "a" sound in "Sat" doesn't exist in our tongue so that is what makes it difficult to pronounce precisely. It is somewhere between the "u" in "sun" and the "aw" in "pawn" -- you could also say that it is pretty close to the "o" in "mold" but it is hard for our English mouths to isolate that sound. So we just make it easy on ourselves and say "Sutt" but if you would like to practice your Punjabi pronouniation you can fine tune it to how your teachers are saying it too! The Truth remains your Identity no matter how you say it Ranjit >"Clark" <spitfire34 >Kundaliniyoga >Kundaliniyoga >Kundalini Yoga Sat Nam >Fri, 13 Jun 2003 18:33:42 -0400 (EDT) > > Can anyone clarify why books say to pronounce Sat Nam as "but mom," and I >hear KY teachers greeting each other "sot mom?"
