Guest guest
Sat Nam ya,ll, This is one of those questions that can keep you busier than a one-legged man at a butt kickin' contest. I am thoroughly convinced that prayer has made a huge difference in my health concerns of late. I know hundreds of people are praying for me, many of them on this list. I've always known people who seem to have the knack of praying most effectively. Since I haven't been one of them, I'll be checking out THE ISAIAH EFFECT. While I could get caught up in issues like pre-destination, karma and quantum mechanics till my head explodes, I choose simply to believe that God listens. Even Jesus said that we don't get our prayers answered because we ask all wrong. Now, while 'give us this day a winning lottery ticket.' doesn't sound quite right - what's wrong with it? We all pray to better our lives whether it's our health, finances, preventing war, freedom from fear - whatever. Is prayer the stepping stone by which we advance in our understanding of our relationship with God and the Universe? That was rhetorical, I don't have an answer really. Do we measure our relationship with the Universe according to our ability to bend it to our will? Is the purpose of prayer to give or to get? Is it how we praise God or how we ask Him for favors? Is God swayed by man? This is a huge topic and I'm glad we're tackling it! And welcome to Sija! Sometimes when I know I'm gonna have a busy day, but I know I'll want to meditate or chant or assume a posture for a few minutes off and on all day, I'll tune in with the Adi Mantra first thing in the morning and hope it holds for the day. You can also take a minute and tune in at various times of the day just to stay grounded. The Adi Mantra is great all by itself, even if you don't "work out". Light and Love ya'll Leo
Guest guest
Sat Nam Leo, I think real prayer is not when we ask God for things, but when we open oursleves to Him. And in that space we may be made aware of things we need to know, but it can also be a place of silence and peace. Real prayer is connecting ourselves to the Divine so we may listen to and experience God. Blessings, Avtar Kaur ______________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
