Mick,

 

For every day use, in my experience, most people pronounce Sat Nam

with the a's sounding like o's in "hot." The articulation then varies

depending on what mantra or kriya is involved. For Sat Kriya, I

usually hear Sat expressed percussively as "Sut," as in "hut," and Nam

like "Num;" in long Sat Nams, it's the "o" sound like "hot," again.

There are other occasions when you might hear Sat with an "ought" sound

to it.
