Sat Nam,

When i started KY i had a great tension in the solar

plexus and over time with cow/cat and meditation it

slowly been released. Then i noticed the tension in my

heart chakra and have been doing the hands on heart

meditation and it has released a lot of this tension

and now i have noticed the tension in my jaw. I

haven't found any specific exercise/meditation to help

this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Mick

I devised a simple set of exercises, a few weeks ago,

(basically, I combined the

brahma pose with the

squeeze-saltwater-between-the-teeth techniques) to

strengthen the neck, eye

and the facial muscles, in addition to cleaning the

teeth and

strengthening the gums, which I found

quite useful. When the neck

is strengthened, the head is well-balanced and sits

lightly on the neck.

Here's the exercise, and I do it after I brush my

teeth in the morning.

Step 1: Take some salt-water in your mouth

Step 2: Tilt your head back slooowly, stretching the

neck as much as you

can, and hold the stretch for about five breaths.

While holding the

stretch,

squeeze the salt-water between your teeth in your

mouth, and focus on the

tip of your nose.

Step 3: Tilt your head down slooowly, stretching the

BACK OF THE neck as

much as you

can, and hold the stretch for about five breaths (both

in and out).

While holding the stretch,

squeeze the salt-water between your teeth in your

mouth, and focus on the

point between your eyebrows.

Step 4: Tilt your head to the left slooowly,

stretching the neck as much

as you

can, and hold the stretch for about five breaths. In

this position,

squeeze the salt-water between your teeth in your

mouth, and look as far

back as you can.

Step 5: Tilt your head back right slooowly, stretching

the neck as much as

you

can, and hold the stretch for about five breaths. In

this position,

squeeze the salt-water between your teeth in your

mouth, and look as far

back as you can.

You can do this in standing or sitting positions. Feel

what happens to

the neck and facial muscles when you do the above

stretches. When you do

it regularly, you will find a noticeable difference in

the neck and jaw

line. One should NEVER do the neck rotations fast. The

five-breath pause

between neck turns

is ideal for strengthening the neck safely.

I also noticed that I am singing better and

able to hit higher pitches more effortlessly

these days (not that Celine Dion's going to

be in trouble in the near future :) )

Hope this helps.

SAT NAM Mike,

I also was suffering a while ago with TMJ and tension

in the left part of the body, I got advise from KY

that I need to alternate legs during easy pose and

ensure that I balanace my weight equally laterally.

After I followed there advise I saw tremendous

improvement and now I can say I dont have any jaw

tension!.

Often, it appears that tension in jaws relates to

pelvic region imbalances.

SO any pelvic work might help.

Thanks

Akkama
