Guest guest
hi everybody , I am Paramesvaran . I am intrigued by K and decided to learn more about it. I have checked thru some websites and I hope K members can assist in any of the Q's below. i)Is it necessary for me to follow the guidance of a guru to awaken the K ? ii)Can a guru's blessing expedite the awakening of K ? iii)How will I know whether I am ready for the awakening or is it just my curiosity driving me? iv) Will it affect my work , I am stuck full time 8am-6 pm 5 days a week .. v) Can the K awakening override our bad Karma (malefic effect of grahas which is believed by Hindus to dictate our life) Thank you. Guest guest
Sat Nam Paramesvaran, In answer to your questions.... i) In order to awaken the kundalini energy in a healthy, balanced way....follow kundalini yoga "as taught by Yogi Bhajan". All the kriyas and meditations are designed to prepare the physical body and otherwise, for the awakening of that energy. ii)What do you mean by a guru's blessing? Do you mean, is the process expediated under the tutelage of a teacher? We self iniate, in KY, by gaining experience through practice. As soon as we use the Adi mantra to tune in, we link with the consciousness of the Golden Chain of Teachers who have come before us...and we are guided and protected through this link. With that said...it helps to have a physical teacher who is constantly pushing you past what you percieve as your limitations. The teachers job is to carve the student...until they reach their full potential. It is a blessing to be carved by a teacher. iii)It is everybody's birth right to be happy, healthy and holy. These are the gifts that practicing KY brings....they are with held from no one. You have to begin where you are at. All yoga's work to raise the kundalini....as we move into the Aquarian Age, Kundalini yoga becomes the "yoga for the times".....as in, it's the yoga practice that best suits the "times" we are currently in...it will take us the distance we need to go, in the time that is provided. So dive in! (You can follow Gururattan's online course at yogatech.com) iv)What it will affect is your consciousness. Your awareness will grow and with that comes change. I always tell people if you don't want your life to change...don't practice KY! ha ha! Your in luck...KY is called the yoga of the householder! (for people with jobs and lives!) Every experience in your life, work or otherwise will be affected. We can't separate work from our spiritual practice. Living life consciously, is a spiritual practice. All of life becomes a dharma. v)As we create heat (tapas) with each exercise/meditation...it helps to burn the seeds of karma that have yet to manifest, in order to lessen the impact of it (for example, if we were meant to have a debilitating accident, we may get off with just a fender bender!). As we grow in our awareness, we begin to live Dharmically...in other words we stop creating more karma for ourselves. So yes. What's that saying? "Fight karma with dharma?" KY is a dharmic practice. On the topic of karma....we encounter what my teacher calls "karmic intersections" in life. It's those situations that come to us due to past events delivered to us now as karma....and rather than recognize the moment for what it is...we get "hooked" by it once again, and we go down that path once more, making the same decisions we have in the past and create the same karma for ourselves. So with the developement of awareness...you begin to recognize these intersections when they occur and choose differently...thus creating a more positive outcome karmically...or if you are very conscious, no karma at all. And that's my two cents on karma! Hope this is helpful. Sat Sangeet Kaur
