Inna,

I too have high blood pressure. I have brought mine down before by

doing yoga and eating a low fat diet. For me, losing weight helps but

I am inconsistent and as much as I try I have gained weight back. I

bought myself a blood pressure monitor so I could take my own blood

pressure. This was informative because I could take it and see for

myself what would bring it down (or up) for me, a form of

bio-feedback. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. I

didn't like the idea of taking medication either but my doctor told

me that for some people it is hereditary and not to beat up on myself

if I couldn't bring it down with diet and exercise. My Dad had High

Blood Pressure and also died of a heart attack at age 55 so I take it

seriously. Heart disease is a number one killer so it is better to

take medication if you need it than to risk weakening your heart.

Here are recommendations from 'Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine' by

Micheal Murray, N.D. and Joseph Pizzorno, N.D. (paraphrased by me)

For MILD hypertension (140-160/90-104)

reduce excess weight

eliminate salt

avoid alcohol and smoking

exercise and use stress reduction techniques (KY YOGA!)

eat high potassium diet (BANANAS!)

eat celery garlic and onions

reduce intake of animal fats

increase vegetable oils (OLIVE OIL)

supplement diet with:

multiple vitamin mineral formula

400-800 IU vitamin E

500-1,000 mg vitamin C

equivalent of 4,000 mg fresh garlic/ day

flaxseed oil 1 tbsp/ day

for MODERATE hypertension (140-180-/105-114)

all of the above plus...

Coenzyme Q10: 50 mg 2-3 times/day

hawthorn extract 100-250 mg 3 times/ day (takes a few weeks to show effect)

SEVERE hypertension (160+/115+)

see physician immediately - you may need to use medication to get

blood pressure under control then employ all of the above and work

with physician to taper off medication.

hope you find this info helpful.

love & peace
