Guest guest
Sat Nam Gurubir Kaur, A few days (at least!) at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab is a must. Perhaps the most healing single spot on the planet! Just being in the environment is Naad Yoga. Also, from there you can be in Dharamshala (Dalai Lama's home) after a 7 hour taxi ride. Taxis are cheap. I think winter is the best time for Dharamsala as you the cooler weather tends to keep the flakier folks from the U.S. and Europe at home,......yeah, things can be quite a circus as the weather gets warm. You can also look into a deep Ayurvedic Panchakarma retreat at one of the schools or centers. For like 40 days you get to really work out your doshas ditties and come out incredibly, constitutionally whole. The money part has to be pretty reasonable. I need to research these opportunities myself. Check the net. Yogi Bhajan is an Ayurvedic Master. Opening yourself to Ayurveda is a natural progression for any student of Yoga,....any Yoga. Muniji (sp?) has a very mellow ashram in Rishikesh. For more info contact the folks at http://www.yogawestla.com That's a start. Much to say. Where are you from? One more thing, as a woman, it is not a good idea to travel alone. Also, dress in as "modest" an attire as you can, wearing Bana is the best. You will get a lot of the blessings that this culture offers. Through the pollution, poverty and traffic there is a definite magic. Have things pretty well set up in advance. Have people coming to meet you at the airport and train stations. Know what things should cost before you get there, and be prepared to haggle......I hope you're not British ) DO NOT TAKE BUSES ANYWHERE! Use the train system and taxi/rickshaws.
