Guest guest
Sat Nam Everyone... Earlier in the summer I mentioned that I would be taking a workshop at the end of August on the Power of Prayer...well, the deed is done...and I would like to share with you what we discussed and practiced at this course, as I remember someone asking me to do so, once i took the course. Earlier in the year, when I was participating in a numerology course, we discussed the arc line. Up until that point when ever I had come across the arc line in numerology, I had never understood what it was about. I would read catch phrases like...it's your protection and your projection....and be mystified as to what that really meant. I mention this now, because, prayer is a function, in part, of the arc line. When we pray, we are appealing to one of two levels. The first and most common is nature (other names for nature include, universal mind, goddess, mother earth etc). Nature is governed by the laws of Karma....cause and effect. We begin an action and that action produces an effect. The effect may take a moment to come into fruition or it may take thousands of years to ripen...but it will come. The second level is what we would call God, Grace or Spiritual Power. It is beyond the realm of cause and effect and is govern by no laws of nature...God is unlimited...no rules apply here. For the most part when we pray, we receive a response from the first level, because if we received a response from "God Almighty", every time we prayed (in other words, God intervened disregarding cause and effect)...the jig would be up! We are spiritual beings here to have a human experience. We couldn't fully have that experience, if the laws that govern this experience, were constantly being trumped, by the "Big Guy". We need to follow through this process of life and learn what we came to learn etc. Now if this depresses you...not to worry...here is the thrill! We co-create our reality. How do we participate consciously or unconsciously in the making of our experience? By what we project via the arc line/ 3rd eye point. Every thought that we have that gets projected through the arc line into our aura becomes magnetic within the aura...and the experience that thought produces, will be drawn into your life. Because there is no time table we can follow that tells us the year this will ripen in...we often feel our experiences are "unjust", because we no longer have any consciousness of the action we took to produce a cause such as the one we have recieved. THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS THOUGH!! Because from this experience we can understand we co-create reality and thus are empowered to manifest a new future, if our present circumstances are unfulfilling for us! When you master the arc line or the arc body...you have an understanding of cause and effect...you are able to see it working in your life...."okay, I said or did this...now I received this experience in response...oh I see?...very enlightening!" You have the awareness to be able to follow a thought through into the phase of causation and be able to see what the result of that thought will be, before you actually act on it. You do no harm...because you fully understand the consequences of your actions, before you act....and thus act with integrity, unless you are looking to aquire some difficult karma. Before we begin the process of effective prayer we need a few things in our tool kit: 1) We need to have something that we want...a desire of some kind to pray for. 2) We need to develop our ability to be aware, so that we can receive feedback to our prayers and also know what would be the most promoting thing to pray for. 3) We need to have "heart". The heart is our center of feeling. We need to connect the intellect with the feelings to really magnetize our prayer. 4) We need to foster an attitude of gratitude. 5) We need to be able to "let go" of our prayer or request when the time comes. And a practice of meditation helps to develop all of the above and also intensifies your success with prayer. The process begins with choosing something to pray for. Little sequey....we often think we each have an individual mind...what we actually have are tendencies or habits of thought...we actually all share one big mind...that's why it's called the "universal mind". One big ocean...some of us prefer to attach ourselves to the fish in the ocean rather than the rocks in the ocean etc etc. When we remember that we have 1000 thoughts per wink of the eye...we can understand, that we select only a few of those thoughts to attach to or focus our selves on at a time. This is largely decided by our past conditioning and how we've thought in the past, as to what thoughts we choose to select for now and attach to. My point being that all "information" is "out there"...it's just a matter of tuning into the right channel in the mind to access it. So when I sit down to meditate and I ask myself..."What do I really desire....what does my Soul want?" I can receive an answer via the universal mind. The universal mind (nature) is governed by cause and effect. I asked the question, "what do I want"... (that is my cause going into action) and the effect comes back as an answer. Now my ability to "hear" the answer...may be limited, if I haven't developed awareness and the art of inner listening...Sunia. But you can rest assured that the answer will keep coming until you can recognize it as an answer. Listen during meditation, be aware in your environments for clues, listen to things people say to you...notice billboards and the ads on the side of buses! Ha Ha! So once we know what we are to pray for we begin...the intention has been set. Close the eyes, light focus 3rd eye point...you want to go as deeply as you can into a meditative state...where the mind begins to calm and you recognize that state of neutral awareness being invoked. If the mind is chattering your prayer will get distorted by all of the background noise of the mind...become still and vast. Open the awareness in and around the heart...feel deeply. *Begin a practice of gratitude. We want to express our gratitude for being given this opportunity to have a "say" in what we create in our lives. Very powerful moment. I recognize that you hold the power to choose in this moment. Repeat..."Thank you for giving me the power to choose." And feel deeply a sense of gratitude for this blessing. (not "think"...gratitude... but FEEL IT with your heart!) You may feel joy, love, confidence etc etc. Side note: To whom am I praying to? What if I don't believe in God? We are appealing to the universal mind on the first level (so we receive an answer to our prayer as a result of putting a cause into motion, the answer comes in the form of the effect of our cause). If we manage to break through the level of cause and effect into the second level (well whatever your concept of God is works...Creator, Divine intelligence, Ultimate intelligence, Universal intelligence, Divine mother, Light, Truth etc etc) I use the word God because I relate to it...use what you can relate to. Past the level of cause and effect is the realm of Grace and Sat Nam (God's back yard)...remember, no limits, no bounds...anything can happen. This is the realm of miraculous healings and awakenings...for the reasons I discussed earlier, these aren't usually the norm, for results, when we pray....but it is a possibility. When God intervenes it is usually to awaken you in some way that is pertinent for your progress...otherwise we work at the 1st level to create change in our lives through the "learning to choose process" at the level of cause and effect/nature. Eyes still closed... *Now wanting to ask for something implies that there is something you don't already have...take a moment to think about the situation as it is currently, dispassionately and note any emotions that may arise. Ex) If I want more love in my life...I will think about where in my life I feel as if I do not have enough love. And as a result, I may experience some anger or grief etc etc (these are the emotions that arise when I think about the lack of love I experience in my life). *Now begin to talk to yourself about how your experience (reality) might be different if you received what you are asking for...let yourself imagine...allow your creativity to begin a dream of what the possibilities are...how would you feel differently? Keep imagining until you can grab onto this new feeling. Ex) I would imagine myself in situations where I experience love, whatever they might be...and I would go into my heart and feel with my heart...how that actually feels different, from the experience of not having love in my life. FEEL WITH YOUR HEART!! If you find you can't conjure up a positive feeling (love, joy, confidence, gratitude...whatever the feeling would be) to go with your thoughts or visuals...you have to keep practicing this step until you can...head and heart have to be linked for success. This is what is meant by pray with your heart. We can spend decades mumbling words that hold no meaning for us, hoping our prayers will be answered...but it's not until we know our intention, feel with our heart and then project with our thoughts that we manifest change in our lives. That we make contact...experience a "direct hit" to the realm of God....and in a less dramatic sense we work at the level of nature (cause and effect) which over time and with practice is very transformational in it's effect. *Now once you can hold the feeling that comes with the new reality you have imagined...you begin to repeat your prayer or petition projecting it out the 3rd eye point, releasing it to the universe...so that it can now take it and run with it...if you hold onto it, the universe reads that as you not actually wanting what you are asking for...SO LET IT GO! Ha ha!. Then keep coming back to the feeling if you lose it. If all goes right...at some point you will have the sense..."it is done". The "it is done" feeling comes because literally, it has been done. At the causal level, thoughts are manifested the moment they are released. My teacher jokingly said, "that's why we humans are not living in the causal plane...because can you imagine if our every thought became manifest??" Our minds are pretty cantankerous...we think our world is upside down crazy now?? And this is just a result of our projected thoughts!! Ha ha! So my point is that if we go deeply enough in our meditation we can access the causal plane and then petition from that place of power to manifest. If you don't get a sense of "it is done" then it is a matter of honing all the steps in the process. You may get hung up or stuck anywhere along the way...Just keep practicing. Someone might ask...what if what I ask for turns out to be the wrong thing? Some are afraid to ask for fear of what they may manifest in their lives. The truth is, we manifest everyday, whether we are aware of it or not. Any thought that gets projected...gets manifested. For some this is a conscious process for others it is an unconscious process (we don't understand why are lives are the way they are?)So we are dealing with the effects of what we manifest anyways... Prayer is just a way of consciously working with this process. To end I'd like to share some of my teachers words, regarding the attitude needed to pray successfully...I'll try to say them in my own words actually.... *When you pray, try to have a sense of who or what you are praying to...in other words the nature of your God concept...what are the qualities of God, that if you understood, would deepen your ability to feel grateful and confident in the prayer process? A few examples... *A God of all power * A receptive and nurturing God * A God of Light * Perfected and all knowing *A God who is willing to be revealed to us. *A Sustainer *Liberator * Creator You can meditate on this further... What benefit comes through a practice of prayer? *Empowerment, a sense of co-creating with God...moving through restrictions and blocks. *Deep understanding...to know myself (soul) and in essence to know God. *Cultivation of the ability to choose in an ecological manner (your choices uphold the well-being of all involved) *Developing heart...awareness...the ability to feel. *Understanding of reality, the laws that govern it and the Truth about how God is supporting us in every moment. The result of all of this is a deep feeling of connection and being part of the flow of God. In order to pray effectively we need to be willing to... *See ourselves as empowered to make choices. We need to choose and ask! *Develop an awareness of what you want at a heart or Soul level. *See ourselves at the center of the creative process...as a Soul identity and relate to that. *Receive feedback from our petitions and respond accordingly. Be able to read the "signs" and take appropriate action in response. Forever honing this process through our continued practice. *Be guided. *Let go of ways of thinking and acting that do not support that which we are asking for...let go of negativity that runs counter to the new reality we are trying to envision for ourselves through the process of prayer. • Be comfortable with the unknown...let your prayers be answered in the time and space and way that is appropriate...nature has much to orchestrate! She has to make sure everyone gets what they need in a way that won't do any harm to another...so sometimes our prayers get answered in a time or way we never even considered! And finally, to "revere the sacred" in my teacher's words. Our motives should come from a clear place. Let the pursuit of all things sacred be your motivation! My teacher did note that he would never pray for another person, because of the power inherent in this process and the inability to know what is best or needed in a given situation that you are not personally involved in...he would perhaps pray in the form of a more universal blessing for someone to recieve light and love or blessings according to God. (These are my words..I can't recall his words exactly at this moment). Pray with integrity. And that's it in a nut shell! May each one of us walk in the Divine, co-creating a new reality filled with Light, love and Harmony! Sat Sangeet Kaur

Guest guest
Sat Nam, Sat Sangeet K. THANK YOU! Your words have been wonderful and shed some light into some 'shady' areas of my knowledge. I really like the way you are writing! Just a thought: Whenever you pray, you will always receive what you need. But not always what you asked for ;-) Blessings from Shanghai, Adarsh S.
