Guest guest
Hi there I just joined the list. I've been studying Kundalini with a teacher for about six months and have been interested in my chakras for about ten years. I'm curious about where the lower chakras are actually located. What my teacher is telling me is different from what I have learned before. She says the third chakra is located about two inches beneath the belly button, whereas I had thought that was my second chakra and that my third chakra was located above the belly button. She says the second chakra is located at the sex organs and the first is located at the anal sphincter. Are there different schools of thought about where chakras are located? Is kundalini different in where it places the chakras? Have I just been misinformed about chakras this whole time or is my teacher giving me incorrect information. Thanks so much! Guest guest
Sat Nam Jen, >Are there different schools of thought about > where chakras are located? The chakra subject is a broad one and analyzing it could take forever, mainly because you can't have "evidence beyond doubt" that they exist! At least, for the typical western mind that rules our society. However, what you do have, is your personal experience which will give you a different kind of evidence as to whether the chakras exist and where they are located. Personally, I have read different views on the subject, concerning location and colours of chakras although the main theory is the same. However, we are lucky enough to be practicing kundalini yoga, because very often a kriya or meditation will give you a direct experience of a specific chakra, sometimes through vibration or an electro feeling in that area of the body. I 've had such experiences during my practice and I felt my navel chakra centered in my navel area, my heart chakra in the middle of the chest and my third eye right between my eyebrows..and that's where the kundalini school places them. But that's me...why don't you start observing carefully, what is going on inside you during your yoga practice and I'm sure you will find many answers to your questions just righ there. Guest guest
Dear What your teacher explained is correct. There is no two schools are here - first chakra is Mooladhara chakra - i.e., our anus region - where our faeces get collected - the earth element - more correctly it at the end of our spinal chord, the next is Swadishtan around the genetal region - the element is water and the third chakra is Manipura around the solar plexus - behind the naval region and the element is fire The Kundalini is supposed to be coiled at the bottom of muladhara area below the spinal chord end Sat nam Wahe Guru Mani >"Jen Fu" <binghamjen >Kundaliniyoga >Kundaliniyoga >Kundalini Yoga Chakra question >Wed, 17 Sep 2003 18:43:47 -0000 > >Hi there > >I just joined the list.
