Guest guest
I have not taught such a class, but I have been asked to prepare a sample lesson plan for review, I am working on a series that emphasizes fearlessness and aura strength, protection from negativity and similar kriya descriptions that would seem to fit. I think this is a very valuable area to bring KY to. Also I highly recomend "The Destiny of Women" by Gururattan Kaur regarding the meaning and value of being a woman. Please let me know how your class goes, and I will share my outlines. Thanks, Rebecca

Guest guest
Sat Nam Hari Sant Ji, Just some thoughts I had.....(I haven't worked with battered women though). Use some music ....especially Guru Ram Das chants...the two versions that I am thinking of is the one by Singh kaur crimson collection and The Yoga of Sound (Relaxation) one by Mata Mandir. My favorite background music for any class is always the Guru Ram Das chant, especially when healing is needed and soothing. Really focus on guiding them through the breath, giving them visualizations so that they can have a way to relate to the prana. Being battered is terrifying and kicks the sh--t out of your nervous system and breathing can be so healing and soothing to the nervous system, when practiced really consciously, and at the same time this soft music plays behind and around you all, as you go into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation and trust. You might have a hard time getting them to close their eyes at first...you may want to have them lie on their backs with knees bent feet flat on the floor to practice long deep breathing, as this is a safe feeling position for a lot of people. But I think ultimately, you will just have to be intuitive based on who shows up and what is going to best serve the moment. You may walk in and just know, there is no way Singh Kaur is going to go over with this crowd...etc etc. Good luck...I'd be interested to hear how it goes for you. Sat Sangeet Post your free ad now! Guest guest
Sat Nam, ...I have practiced Kundalini Yoga for 6 years and now teach. I am in the process of preparing classes for womem in prison often these women have suffered from physical violence. The classes will have a strong emphasis on fearlessness, letting go and empowerment. I was a battered woman many years ago. Through my Kundalini practice I brought up many fears and was able to let them go. It was not a pain free process. I advise being very careful working in the first 3 chakras, where it seems to me alot of negative energy is stored in individuals who have been abused. Proceed slowly and with more emphasis on healing, soothing meditations, leading into more strong physical asanas and be prepared for some tears. I would be interested in keeping up with your progress, and would be glad to share my experiences with you. You may write me at my personal e-mail address. Good luck! Guest guest
Have you tried Kirtan Kriya for it's healing effect on emotional pain? I think I will include it as a meditation in the brief form. It is also one of those powerful things that may only be dealt with in small doses until the heavy stuff is worked through enough that you don't end up crying constantly. It really rebuilds your very foundation from the beginning.A battered woman's self-respect, confidence, trust and self-worth are shuttered. The mantra will rebuild them from start.
