Guest guest
Sat Nam Ram Narayan, It is important to understand that Sodarshan is complete within itself. Nothing else is necessary. This is true of all Kriyas. That said, it doesn't hurt to do other things beforehand. Actually, when Yogi Ji gave the "Aquarian Meditation" as Summer Solstice back in '01, he also gave the 20-20-20 breath as the last part of the series. It is always good to do this breath after any set, after your layout and before you "Give Back" by singing the "Long Time Sun" song. It helps give you an integrated sense of the changes that you have gone through and makes it easier to feel your self going forward into your day with this new, deeper balance. Alternate nostril breath (The "U" breath) is always a good thing to do as a warm up to open your channels and create balance. (This is especially important for menopausal women. 30 minutes a day what Yogi Bhajan specifies). Your warm ups can entail what ever you want but keep in mind that once you Tune In, keep it very simple and focused on the set or Kriya you are planning to do. Sometimes I do other things just to clear my emotional body so that I am a little more streamlined and able to be more subtle in my experience of the Kriya. The basic wake up series, gagging with salt & Alum, Ishnaan aka Hydrotherapy aka a cold shower are all things that help prepare your body/being to go deep into your experience of Yoga and meditation. Clearing the previous day's accumulation of Ama (mental, physical, emotional) is what one is trying to do. The is how we renew our spirit and Soul, especially if it is done in the Amrit Vela.
