Bentonite

Hi!

Bentonite is added to many foods on which mold grows easily, peanut butter is

one of them. It is also fed to livestock, mixed directly with their fodder.

The reason for the use of Bentonite is because mold that grows on food,

especially on carbohydrates, is carcinogenic: bentonite absorbs this mold and

then it simply gets eliminated through the usual processes. Sometimes the mold

( I forgot the scientific name) is growing on food even if we can't see it. It

is a good idea to store all grain foods at a low temperatures, because it keeps

the mold from growing. Also , when mold is heated it becomes poisonous. This

obviously counts for pet food as well - and puts a new slant on using stale

bread for making toast. As to dosage, I suggest one has a tablespoon of

bentonite after a meal containing grains or nut, and your'e not exactly sure how

fresh it fresh was.

With regard to a raw food diet for cleansing, be careful if you are a Vata

type. We are also in the Vata season which will further irritate the dosha and

throw you into imbalance. Cold, raw food is extremely aggravating for this type

of constitution. An Ayurvedic cleanse for any dosha would consist of mung

beans as a soup, adding basmati rice to it(kitcheree) as the cleanse comes to an

end. Kapha's probably do best with the raw food approach, Pitta's get too

grouchy! Vata's can't digest it which creates more ama or toxins...defeats the

purpose! An afternoon fresh raw vegetable juice after the grounding mung beans

and some lightly sauteed vegetables for evening seem to work best with Vata.

Triphala, Blood Cleanse and Hing along with the basic mung bean diet is also

advised. Before my clients begin Purva Karma or Pancha Karma this is what I

recommend for a cleanse. If the betonite depletes good bacteria I would be

skeptical

of it as a cleanse. Just a few thoughts...

Blessings and Health!
