Guest guest
HI I do Bikram Yoga...and even that is a bit too masculine for me. *Smile*...but I do other poses that awaken Kundalini...and have done some chanting and mudras and Tibetan Rites. You said: I realised, that what I witnessed that day is much like what the Masculine inside me, my logic and thoughts, often does to my Feminine, my feelings and emotions... I shut off from them, ignore them, make them be quiet, dominate them and intellectualize everything. ***************************************** Wow, I relate to this and this is just bringing something up to my understanding....I found out that as a 3 year old I witnessed my Father attempt to rape my favorite aunt who lived with us...and apparently my Dad was also physically abusive to my Mother and I am sure I witnessed that young...older too but not so much physical as emotional. But so anyway, what came to me when I read your post was this book I just ordered for myself called A Woman's Book of Power (Using Dance to Cultivate energy and Health in Mind, Body, and Spirit) by Karen Andes (author of a Woman's Book of Strength). I have not read it yet but I think this could be very helpful to you...there are lots of pictures and it definitely awakens and strenghthens the feminine. There are some belly dance moves in there that I bet would be great...also help with Kundalini while awakening the goddess. Here's a quote: "Interest in the wisdom of the Divine Feminine is appearing at the end of the twentieth century as if to guide us back to a part of ourselves that we once naturally possessed but had lost and forgotten. In order to move forward as whole beings into the third millennium and preserve our sanity, the status of women and the planet, we must once again cultivae this wisdom. We all possess and need both the female and male principles, just as much as we need the moon and the sun." There are lots of diagrams and instructions for dances and exercises that emphasize feminine...like Hip Figure 8's and Snake Hips (there ya go..Kundalini) *smile* There's the Simplified Tai Chi Balance Walk with Right and Left-brain instructions. Belly Breathing...The Busy Woman's Dancing Meditation... There is one Chapter called The Seat of Our Power..and a subtitle is The Pelvis. Chapter 1 is The Dance of Power and the first sentence is... "This book is about a type of power and a style of dance that draw from a 'divine', feminine source. The power I speak of is subtle, energetic and throbs in every organic thing. The dance I address is fluid, spontaneous, expressive." Looks like a great book...may help. love Amy
Guest guest
Thank-you so much to all of you who have replied to my post regarding getting in touch with the feminine, both within my KY practice and in my life. Your feedback has been so helpful and confirming. It may not happen over night, but there's a definite knowing inside which tells me that if I heed the advice, and listen carefully to my feelings, more harmony and happiness will open up in my life. Instead of looking at it like I've got to 'work on myself' (along with the implied necessity of 'improvement'), I'm now feeling that a new journey is opening up before me of 'making friends with myself'. I will be in touch again, to let you know how practice and life is going. Krishan Shiva Kaur x
