Guest guest
Hi, I am just wondering, why does Yogi Bhajan need kidney transplant if he is a yogi? After all, shouldn't he be healthy with all the cold showers he has been taking? Not that I have anything against cold showers, I have found them refreshing and really good for my body. But it's just a thing that's been puzzling me. Sat Nam, Jun
Guest guest
Sat Nam Jun, I'm sure someone out there can give you more details about Yogi Bhajan in particular than I. But the short answer not knowing Yogi Bhajan personnally is that gurus often take on some of their student's Karma to help them on their path. The taking on of this Karma often works itself out physically in the guru's body. Yogi Bhajan has worked with a lot of recovering drug users and sex junkies this kind of abuse does harm the lower chakras and the kidneys in particular. I have heard allegations that Yogi Bhajan himself has had many women, but I do not know how much if any truth there is to this. Hope this helps. Guest guest
There was a story in the Boston newspapers years ago of a mother who through her children from the roof of the building she lived in. She was operating under the understanding that the building was on fire and that the only way to save her children was to throw them from the roof. The subconscious mind can be incredibly powerful. She thoroughly believed that fire was real . She could feel the heat, the choking from the smoke, everything! Her fear of danger coming to her children was so great that she did what she believed to be right. I believe she won her insanity case and is now in a hospital, somewhere. (a real must is to see/rent Peter Weir's "Picnic at Hanging Rock" from 1978. What an insight into what the Kundalini can do, without a discipline) I don't know of any more than one allegation and that person, after leaving 'the Dharma" for a few years, returned and ended up hanging around again for a short period. She is out there somewhere not too far away. That said, who can know if anything really happened? Sex and sexual energy is like that. Sex, for many, is a form of love expression and it can come from the heart, whether it is deemed appropriate or not. Part of taking on the Karma of another is the real chance that one will be in that person's head. (anybody married out there?) It is real hard to be completely in the clear when a person's psyche begins to crack wide open. It's a very painful process. You ever wonder why dentists have some of the highest rates of suicide? That is for two reasons, in my mind. The first is that a lot of people lock the true expression of their pain in their jaw muscles and mouth. By the way, this is a real good area for you body workers if you have the courage and skill to deal with what comes up. Many of us deal from our head and avoid confronting the deeper, organic issues proposed by having a body. Make sure when you chant that you enunciate well the syllables of the mantra. The second reason, and this dovetails very well with the first, is that the dentist is actually causing new pain, which only serves to resonate with the already existing emotional, psychological pain of being a human. Being a dentist means being hated. You better have a discipline for clearing yourself if you're a dentist or a spiritual master. We as teachers of Kundalini especially need to do our Sadhana. Gotta run, Dharam Singh (his from the Teacher Training Notebook) Question: He doesn't consider himself an expert yogi. He just mentioned that he heard Kundalini Yoga is a very dangerous type of yoga. Could you explain a little more? Answer. Ask him why he is practicing all the Hatha Yoga Postures. What is the purpose of Hatha yoga? The purpose of Hatha Yoga is to raise the awareness. It is a technology to bring the apana and prana, the moon and sun powers, together to raise the consciousness through the central equilibrium line. In other words, its stated aim is to raise the Kundalini. That is the purpose of Hatha Yoga. The problem is that it takes about 22 years to raise it that way, even with perfect practice. That is the long method. The difference from Kundalini yoga is only a matter of time and rate of progress. The purpose of the two approaches is the same. Teaching Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga is very different. First of all, it is difficult to teach Kundalini Yoga. A teacher who does not have a beam of energy within himself cannot teach it. That is the first fundamental. You have to be aware within your consciousness. Kundalini yoga raises awareness, as does Hatha Yoga, but it is direct, quick, and a perfect practice for the pace, of a modern household. As a teacher of Kundalini yoga, you should be established at a certain steady level of consciousness to pull all the people up to that level. If you do not have that link of consciousness, the golden link, and the spark of awareness, then you can only instruct in darkness. That is the real problem. You could come and I could give you a bunch of powerful and elegant exercises. You would feel good. However, when I then talk about life and humanity and the total sum of existence and consciousness, you have to feel that magnetism come out of me. My reality and confirmed consciousness must be present to act as a guide and compass. If I can't give you that, there is nothing to pull you to that new level. Kundalini yoga is the master science of experience and awareness. It is a transmission of consciousness from person to person. It is a Raj Yoga that awakens you inside. That is the basic difference between Hatha and Kundalini yoga. This talk of danger sometimes becomes the biggest danger and a big problem. The only danger is when you use something external and artificial, like a drug and force it into you. Think of Kundalini in a different way. In Reality there is a God. He uncoils himself, opens himself up. This uncoiling process or manifestation process is known as Kundalini. What can be dangerous about it? The Kundalini that is going to be uncoiled in you is already in you and part of you. It is an unlimited power that is the essence of your consciousness. It is going to uncoil in you. Your system is already built to contain the energy of Kundalini. It is a normal capacity that you simply are not utilizing. If you start utilizing that energy, where is the danger? Question: You seem to be unique among the yogis and swamis I have heard talk Very few say anything openly, without initiation, about Kundalini and most are very cautious about it. Why do you seem so different? MandyPan97 wrote: > Sat Nam Jun, > > I'm sure someone out there can give you more details about Yogi > Bhajan in particular than I. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Nabil, thank you for your letter. FYI, While playing soccer when he was a young man, a ball hit Yogi Bhajan in the kidney. He has been living with one working kidney for all these years. No spiritual path is about the teacher. It is about ourselves. We are most fortunate when we have a teacher who can give us some hints on how to navigate our hurman journey. The wise ones listen carefully and use the technology. My observation is that issues around a spiritual teacher are often really our own personal parent -- mother, father issues. Again it is about us, not the teacher. The more we choose to focus on ourselves, the more we will get in touch with our personal issues and be able to deal with them. The more we deal with them, the more free we are to be happy and live a fulfilled life. Years ago Yogi Bhajan told us, "If you miss me when I am gone, you have not understood anything I have said." Guest guest
Jun, firstly, you give the impression that you are miles away from us. & that you have never read anything from this great man. secondly, Yogi Bhajan is not "many" rather, He is "unique", you owe him respects, not for what he did to all those blessed to have been on his way, but because He respects you. thirdly, this group has got standard, kindly stick to this standard, Nabil
Guest guest
I do not post to this list very often, however, I have been reading this particular thread. What I comes to mind is something I read about our respective journeys in this life. The (paraphrased) quote is, "We are spiritual beings having a human experience". What I remember in reading this most recent thread about Yogi Bhajan is that he is incarnate as we all are. He is simply passing through another phase in the physical. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to read much of the Yogi's writings, but I hope to read more of his writings.
