Guest guest
Greetings! I picked up the instruction on how to do the Sodarshan Chakra Kriya on the files section of your group site. I was drawn to it and feel that it will greatly benefit me in this new year in helping me to find my identity and strengthen my chakras. I need to know about one of the specifics. I copied the text below, but please explain - am I to hold my one breath the entire 16 times I mentally chant the mantra and 48 times I pump my navel? Or am I to breath in after each chant of the mantra? Please advise, thank you. ------------------- Sodarshan Chakra Kriya Sit in an Easy Pose, with a light jalandhar bandh. EYE POSITION: The eyes are fixed at the tip of the nose. (This meditation is not to be done with the eyes closed. MANTRA: WHA-HAY GUROO MUDRA & BREATH PATTERN: a) Block the right nostril with the right thumb. Inhale slowly and deeply through the left nostril and suspend the breath. Holding the breath, mentally chant the mantra WHA-HAY GU-ROO 16 times. Pump the Navel Point 3 times with each repetition, once on WHA; once on HAY; and once on GUROO, for a total of 48 unbroken pumps. b) After the 16 repetitions, unblock the right nostril. Place the right index finger (pinkie finger can also be used) to block off the left nostril, and exhale slowly and deeply through the right nostril. c) Continue repeating a) & b) TIME: for 11-31 minutes. Master practitioners may extend this practice to 62 minutes, then to 2-1/2 hours a day. TO END: Inhale, hold the breath 5-10 seconds, then exhale. Stretch the arms up and shake every part of your body for 1 minute, so the energy can spread. Guest guest
Hi cristalcat, yes, for Sodarshan Chakra Kriya you hold the breath for 16 repititions of the whole Mantra. If this is not possible at first, try with less repititions and build up to 16 cycles slowly, for example from 8 up to 16: every 2nd or 3d day 1 cycle more... For me it was important to come into a kind of Rhythm with this kriya. Especially if i ran out of breath or was desperately trying to get breath. If you are feeling that there is not yet enough capacity to do the whole cycle try to learn how to breath long and deep- as if you do it for the first time, for example with long Sat Nams: See kundalini yogakyt05.html Then practice some navel-strengthening Exercises for example: kundalini yogakyt09.html or Sat Kriya after some Week of practice you will find that Sodarshan Chakra Kriya will be easier Sat Nam Martin, Duesseldorf, Germany,
