Guest guest
[breathwalk] Digest Number 1788 This is about what developed in my life from doing and teaching the breathwalk. Like Cindy I am chanting "in public." No one seems to notice my activities. This summer I noticed that my walk was unsteady and I had little stamina. Too much sitting meditation. So I moved up the pace and started running to Livtar Singh's Sadhana tape (As one more thing that I do regularly). With snow on the ground, I do it cross country skiing. The drum (tabla) is lively. The correct Long Ek Ong Kar chant is not possible while walking, but it slows down breath and focuses my mind. In the beginning, it is important to do it only in a very safe place. I once ran into a parked car. Now I am able to keep my eyes open and I am aware of people passing me by without being distracted. The chanting is central to disciplining the breath and mental focus. I put Livtar Singh's music tape on a CD and during the day also use Ajai Alai in the same way. This practice does not substitute for a sitting sadhana, but it is a lot better than nothing and wonderful as an addition to seated meditation.
