question about on-line course

Hi,

I have never posted to an on-line group - having a

read a few of the

recent postings, I have a deep sense of relief at

hearing that such

communion and honesty is available through my computer

screen. I am

a graduate student, working on my PhD in clinical

psychology, and

mostly have come to have a physically negative

reaction to computer

screens.

I live in Tempe, Arizona, USA. My name is Jessica,

and I have a

question about using the on-line course to guide an

introduction to

kundalini yoga.

I am taking a class this semester called,

Spirituality, Communication

and Culture, a melding of my dedication to spiritual

practice with my

academic investment. For our practicum assignment,

our prof has

asked us to commit to a daily spiritual practice for

40 days.

I have chosen kundalini yoga, and am *thrilled* to

have found this

website to guide and inform my practice.

Here is my question.

I understand that forty days "is the yogic time for

breaking a

habit". Should I choose *one* practice to repeat

daily during that

time? If I choose one practice (chant, breathwork,

meditation) with

which I am consistent, can I add and vary other

techniques?

Perhaps these questions are needless - I notice my

mind needing

certainty about this practice, especially as it is

formally "an

assignment"! Nonetheless, I would deeply appreciate

advice from

anyone willing.

Besides being a student, I am also a counselor, and

realized that

during a session tonight with my client, an internal

voice was

reeling at how stressed I feel by so much work, so

much call to

activism and service, and so much pressure in my life.

This "assignment" has come at a time when I wonder how

I am going to

get through this time. It has come at the right time.

Thank you for the help

Jessica: You live in Tempe AZ! One of our strongest

communities is located nearby in Phoenix. Get thee to

a real live teacher, there have to be classes all over

the place. Look up Dr Hari Simran Singh Khalsa or his

lovely wife Sat Rattan Kaur Khalsa. They are just two

among many many qualified yoga teachers there in your

area.

Regards,
