Guest guest
Hi. I have the opportunity to chance upon yoga in my recent readings, and am amazed at what I read. However, as I read on, more and more questions sprout in my head. Wonder if someone could help me clarify some of these questions.. 1. What are the differences between kriya yoga and kundalini yoga? Do they both involve meditation? Do they both help one achieve oneness with nature/god? 2. I understand that some yogas also involve chanting or mantra. Is it necessary to understand what one chants/the meaning of mantra for it to be effective? 3. Is yoga a practice of Hindu or Tibetan Buddhist origin? Thank you so much for your help! Guest guest
Hello Nia! I have not seen anyone try to answer your questions, so I will offer my own understanding. I hope it helps. 1. Kriya yoga (of the Lahiri Mahasaya/ P. Yogananda tradition) utilizes mudras, pranayama, and also meditation on Inner Sound (Shabda, or Nada). Meditation (and mudras and pranayama) is also used in Yogi Bhajan's Kundalini Yoga. "Kriyas" literally refer to "actions"; when Kundalini-Shakti becomes active within you, various kriyas, mudras, pranayama, even meditation often occurs spontaneously, the same mudras and kriyas we practice deliberately. Kriya Yoga is one form of Kundalini Yoga technology which helps one attain Oneness with Nature and Supreme Spirit: ONENESS. 2. In my own practice, I find the VIBRATION of the chants, and allowing my attention to become absorbed in the sounds/vibrations attains powerful results. I personally like to understand the meaning of the mantra/chant because (for me) it seems to help me focus more DEVOTIONALLY on the chanting, which helps open my heart more powerfully. Devotional Love for me gets me absorbed in Bliss very quickly, thus closer to Spirit and perception of Oneness. But the Vibration of the Sounds of the chanting alone seems to tune the body, mind, even cells of the body to a much higher level, even without comprehending the meaning of the words. 3. The various yogas are DIVINE in origin and were comprehended by Beings in different traditions in whom the Kundalini-Shakti SPONTANEOUSLY Awakened, and these kriyas, mudras, pranayama, meditation occurred spontaneously, and it was also discovered that by deliberately performing these, the same higher states of consciousness could be experienced. Yoga is a genuine INNER SCIENCE. The Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a safe way of experience this Awakening. The Proof is in the Experience, which comes through the PRACTICE. By the way, this is my own understanding based on many years of my own practice. I invite other members to provide clearer answers if you will. --- nia bail <niabail wrote: > Hi.
