"One of our most powerful Punjab activities is the 84 steps at Goindwal.

A sacred staircase that descends down into a well and, if one recites

Japji (Song of the Soul) on each step, then all your Karma is washed

away. It is an intense experience, much like a Tantric session in many

ways. It can take 12 - 48 hours to complete. It is the Everest of

spiritual pilgrimages. The effects are profound and will break through

so many barriers. It is said that completing this special sadhana will

achieve your liberation in this lifetime; you will be released from the

cycle of birth and death."

I did Goindwal in Nov on the yatra and it was so powerful that I cried on the

very first step. I made it to the 48th step chanting Japji. Determined to

finish I continued with 11 repetitions of the Mool Mantra on each of the

remaining 36 steps.The entire process took me around 26 hours because I'm just

learning Japji. If you decide to go ask around for tips. I had an mp3 player and

a

laminated copy of Japji. For warmth wear a light weight wet suit and bring a

plastic emergency blanket. I was so tranced out I that I saw doors open into the

walls. Everything was changing shape like we had altered time and space. I

highly recommend it!
