Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm just one of those you can call 'passive' monitorers of the daily posts in this forum and i've learned a lot from all these posts. I haven't really settled as to which particular exercise to do consistently for the rest of my life. Instead, i do this for about a week and then jump to another before i even see positive feedback. (Except for the simple Sat Nam exercise where one feels/imagines energy from crown down to root chakra on the inbreath and mentally intoning "Sat "; then on the outbreath "Nam" while feeling energy going back up. I do this with closed eyes while commuting from home to work , and vice versa. ). Now my issue is on knowing which particular exercise is best for strengthening the Heart. I'm 36, and although i don't have any signs of heart problems, i'm just kinda concerned inasmuch as my dad died @ around 50 due to cardiac arrest. BTW, i do sometimes feel a slight heartbeat acceleration that i also feel on the forehead/temple when i suddenly rise up when the morning alarm goes off. (is this what they call palpitation?). So, now I ask for a HEART strenghtening yoga exercise. (Of course I do physical exercise. In fact I jog everyday. I'm just hoping that an additional yoga heart exercise could give me better odds at conquering any negative genetic inclinations). Thanks, james
Guest guest
Sat Naam, One of our favorites -- Sat Kriya! is good for the heart. The rhythmic pumping of the navel point while you are chanting gives the heart a gentle massage. Guest guest
Hi James, A few thoughts come to mind. When you're talking about the heart you're talking about the very Soul of you. Your feelings, your openness to life around you, all kinds of deep stuff. When we're getting palpitations and heart racings that's a pretty good sign we are not in touch with some deeper feelings. It like when we have some other obsessive or compulsive thoughts, habits or behavior. These are symptoms of something eating away at us and we need to peel back that layer of "apparent emotion" to get to the real emotions (repressed anger, fear and sadness which can be as hereditary as brown eyes). I recommend Bioenergetics aka Reichian Therapy to really get in touch with what's happening in a graphic, expressive and body centered way. There is nothing, in my experience that circulates the Kundalini (once it is awakened) through your body Temple as powerfully and completely as Bioenergetics in a therapeutic environment. This may sound kinda wild but if you've ever thought about counseling.......... Our Heart attacks us when we attack it! When we listen to our hearts and experience our hearts really deeply we get absolute Ecstasy! I know one friend who seems to get relief from palpitations with Coenzyme Q10 but I must tell this person has a whole shitload of negativity on board. He is just "maintaining" by treating his heart with CoQ10 (not to slam CoQ10 or L-Carnitine). All the above I have had direct experience in my short life. One other thing is do a heart set. There are many in "Transitions to a Heart Centered World" at www.yogatech.com and in Sadhana Guidelines. I have recently been having wonderful, warm heart sensations while reciting Jaap Sahib. It transforms the fear (Vata) into Prana. Amazing stuff, that Jaap Sahib. Sat Nam,.
