Guest guest
> James: In regard to yoga and heart health, there is a mudra that is specifically alligned with the heart. It's power is renouned in knowing circles. The nickname for this mudra is "the heart-attack stopper" as it has been documented on many occasions to have done just that.. stopped a heart-attack. One account was from a practicing wife whose husband went into cardiac arrest one night as they lay in bed. The husband was NOT a regular practitioner, but the wife knew the heart-attack mudra and forced his hands into the position before she called the doctors. Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctors said that while he did experience a heart attack, it seemed mild and the damage was minimal. Pretty cool. > > It is difficult to explain mudras in words, but I will give it a shot: > > Take the index finger and bend it down and in, touching the meaty part of the base of your thumb, in your palm. Take the middle and ring finger and touch the tips to the thumb tip (gentle pressure), doing this will bend your index finger slightly, putting pressure on the outside of the index finger (from the thumb). Take the pinky finger and stick it out as straight as you can (depending on your hand flexablity, this may not be totally straight). > I hope you can follow that description. This mudra is said to convey good heart and circulation health if done on a regular basis, something like 10 minutes a day with each hand. It is also said to be great for controlling things like heart palpitation, accelerated heart rate, and blood pressure. If you are having trouble visuallizing what I am saying, may I recommend the book "Mudras" by Peme Chodron. I might have the spelling of her last name wrong, but you should be able to find it. Great book, a mudra for everything! > > Hope that helps! > MarzIpan > > >>Hi everyone, > >>So, now I ask for a HEART strenghtening yoga exercise. __________ Find what you are looking for with the Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC\ =lycos10
Guest guest
Hi Marz, Thanks a lot Marz. I think i have an idea as to how the mudra is done. Maybe I'll make a sketch and scan it so i can post it so anyone who knows may check if i'm doing it right. Is the mudra good by itself, or is there an accompanying breath exercise to maximize its effect? The cited 'husband's heart attack' certainly illustrates though that it works by itself (without certain breath sequences). Again, thanks Marz. james
