Guest guest
Ive been introducing myself to kundalini yoga now for the past 8 weeks and havent yet got into a routine or set to pratice for the 40 days---seems that Im just trying to get used to the stamina and flexability that it requires----I meet with my instructor once a week and we do a different set each week and havent found one yet that I can do without getting cramps and exhausted except a set on creativity which is mainly metitation poses---anyone experiencing the same? any suggestions would be most appriciated... blessings to all sat nam endo
Guest guest
I am also new to ky and have another newcomer's question. Breathing during yoga is a challenge to me. I find myself holding my breath or breathing shallow. When I concentrate on breathing deeper and slower, it's unnerving to me. I get fidgety and uncomfortable. When I manage deep breaths, I can get a glimpse at what I'm missing, but I'm unable to maintain the deep breathing. I'm in good shape, no health problems, not overweight, so I know those issues are not the problem. I've been exercising for years, but I'm new to yoga in general and ky in particular. I realize now I've never breathed properly...what a discovery! To have lived without breathing at an optimal level. I would appreciate any wisdom on * ways to help breathing * wisdom on what breathing means (this type of information is always motivating to me) * any personal stories about breathing Thank you. Guest guest
Two things: -Why not do the creativity set for 40 days? There's no rule that says your 40-day set has to be physically challenging. The stretch goal is committing to and actually doing *any* set for 40 days and experiencing the changes you go through. -Also, if you have your heard set on mastering a set that you find difficult, the usual advice is to start where you are (eg. do the set but shorten the duration of each exercise to arrive at an acceptable level of challenge). Gradually increase your times and when you are capable of doing the set all the way through as originally taught, THEN start your 40 days. Guest guest
http://www.sahej.com/The_Cleanse_Brochure.pdf I find that during and after a good cleanse, one's strength and energy goes way up & weight and other signs of hard living go down. Nagging pains and general "malaise" (mental and physical) just aren't an issue anymore. To try and remove all of this with yoga or trips to the gym are a hard road to travel. No one should work that hard to feel good. We don't get over our pains but methods that create more pain. Sometimes a straight line isn't the shortest distance. Check out the above link for a very complete cleansing program. You can also check out any of a number of Mung Bean recipes. Make this part of your lifestyle and things will definately be brighter for you. Guest guest
Hi, I think Nabhi Kriya is the best to start with as it does not demand flexing the spine so much. Besides it involves simple exercsies which you can do for a minute each to begin with and then increase the duration for each over a period of time. I've been doing this set and ending with Sat Kriya (don't find it as exhausting as the spinal flexibilty set ) and finding it good to build stamina for more demanding sets. Sat Nam!
