Guest guest
I'm glad you mentioned the white tantra. There is going to be a day long white tantra in my area in May and I was wondering if there are long stretches of sitting in easy pose. I had read that it would be challenging for beginners so I did not know how to take it's meaning. I have a problem sitting in easy pose too long (my knees get very achy and I have to stretch them out). Please advise what I may expect from doing this event. Thanks for any info. Guest guest
Sat Nam, My experience of white tantric is that most of it is done sitting in easy pose, with the few odd rock poses or corpse poses. Making sure you have some good bolstering like a meditation cushion can help alot and sheep skins underneath you. The exercises have ranged between 11-62 minutes...for the most part 62 minutes, in my experience. I have noticed at some of the tantrics that I have been to that if easy pose is not possible, sometimes people will be on chairs...but I imagine that's more for actual dis-abilities, although I am not positive on that. At tantrics people go and just do the best they can. If you find you can't sit through the whole posture, they have monitors who can come and take your spot, so that you can get up, if need be.....otherwise, we all just kind of try to hang in there and breathe through it. If you feel drawn to go, you should go and just do the best that you can. I have benefitted greatly from practicing White tantric yoga, for that reason, I always suggest that people give it a try, if they are feeling drawn to it. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I highly recommend that you go to White Tantra...smiles...it is a wonderful gift to give yourself...I can tell you from my own experiences that it is a very beautiful, powerful, challenging & a very do able experience. The first one that I went to I did after going to only three classes of Kundalini Yoga. Yes we do alot of sitting, I bring my sheepskin & a Zafu (meditation cushion) which really helps alot. With the cushion I am able to move my legs behind me from easy pose very gracefully without bothering anyone around me when my legs do get sore. Yes you can stretch your legs out if needed. Please don't be intimidated, seriously...no one is there judging you, do your very best & that's all you need ask of yourself...I bring water & tissues & mints...in the AM I also do my warm ups before just to loosen myself up & put myself in a good peaceful place...I hope this helps to answer your questions, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask... PS-I'd love to hear about your experience when you get back...smile Sat Nam Jiwan Shatki Finance Tax Center - File online. Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone, Thanks for the encouragement from the many people who took the time to explain some of the things I could possibly expect from the white tantra. What a lucky group to have such knowledgable and caring people to learn from. Thanks again and I will be sure to post a message if I get there in May. Thanks again. Joanne in Massachusetts.
