Guest guest
Hi, I am new to the Kundalini -group. I am looking for someone in my area to teach me Kundalini Yoga (preferable evenings, Im a Mr. Mom ATM), I would eventually like to be certified a teacher. I live in Queens (Long Island), NY. I have always had a strong natural attraction toward anything associated with Kundalini, but have never found any teachers until now (Im sort at a crossroads in my life right now, so its not ironic to me that now everything is coming up Kundalini, someone is trying to tell me something, LOL). I have practiced Pranayama and Third Eye meditation for approx 20 years, and got into Ashtanga Yoga about 10 years ago (for about 4 years). But throughout I have studied both eastern and western philosophy, psychology, religion and mysticism/metaphysics (and numerous different forms of meditation). Where Yoga and eastern studies are concerned, numerous books by Yogi Ramacharakca, Swami Vivekananda, and The Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy (and one book on kundalini by Sri Chimnoy) have been my primary sources of study. Sorry for the bio... Finally the question, LOL, will any of my previous studies or practices interfere with my practice of Kundalini Yoga or will it help or be negligable? Sat Nam: Felt compelled to answer your query since I was born and grew up in Queens, though I am a long way from there now in the Midwest! There is a very good source for KY classes in Manhattan for sure headed by Sat Jiwan S & K. If that is inconvenient check the IKYTA (International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association)website directory. You are sure to find a qualified instructor either in Queens or Brooklyn. As for your crossroads, Kundalini arrived for me at a very critical crossroads in my life as well! It seems when the need is there, the solution manifests itself. All of your past history is but a prelude to your present. All the books you've read and yoga you've done will I am sure be a good prep for Kundalini Yoga. I found that previous spiritual teachings that I had studied fit right into my KY practice and eventual conversion to my current religious path. You may find things that puzzle you or seem to be in conflict with what you think ... that's why you would benefit from a teacher. Ask questions for sure when you have them, but don't hesitate to listen. Keep up and you will be kept up. ===== KartaPurkh S Khalsa God is a verb, not a noun.--Buckminster Fuller Finance Tax Center - File online. Guest guest
Sat Nam Mortaryan, (is that your name?) and welcome to the list! It sounds like Kundalini Yoga is coming into your life just at the right time to complement all your previous spiritual knowledge. Although I live in Greece, I can tell you about one Teachers' Training program that I know about in New York (because my teacher Guru Dharam from London is teaching there) in Gurunam's center. Check it out in www.rootlight.com. Love and Light Sat Atma
