Guest guest
Sat Naam, ji's, I am behind on my yoga mail, and I'm sure some of this has been covered, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts. First, here are some of the basic guidelines that I follow in regards to practicing yoga during a "ladies' holiday" * no inversions -- actually any pose where the pelvis is raised above the heart should be avoided * very light breath of fire OR just substituting BOF with long deep breathing * no navel or abdomenal exercises * and to simply do only what is easy, gentle, and relaxing for you in the moment And I would especially like to add, that you can choose not to do your usual practice at all! Why not just allow yourself to take a break from doing any physical yoga for a few days?! If you need exercise, take long walks (Yogi B. says women should walk 4 miles a day). Instead, take this opportunity to explore the other facets of the yoga path. Concentrate on sitting, try new meditations. Soak in hot salt baths for cleansing and detoxing. Deepen your yoga practice by reading the ancient scriptures, books on yoga philosophy, etc... peruse your manuals to plan out what you want to do when you return to your practice or find information once overlooked. Chant for hours, or just listen to some uplifting music. Practice Karma yoga by doing something nice for someone, spend time with your Sangha. Pray.
