Guest guest
Sat Nam, You did not mention what kind of shakes??? Is your body or body part (leg, arm, muscle or nerve) shaking spontaneously or does it happen during a stressful exercise like say stretch pose when you do yoga? If it is happening during an exercise that is a bit hard or painful it is usually a sign that the body is repairing itself as in the nervous system. Otherwise, it may simply be the passage of energy through or within a chakra or merdian point. This is all simply guesswork on my part. You should consult with your yoga teacher and if it is deeper, perhaps a health care professional. Sat Nam Message: 4 Mon, 19 Apr 2004 11:36:27 -0700 (PDT) akkamahadevi avanti <akku96 Body Shakes SAT NAM I have been experiencing body shakes for quite sometime now, like over 8-9 months. Initially, it was mild and would be after meditation. (This is probably just relaxation reaction) Now-a-days body shakes are very intense and appears to be consuming a large % of my yoga time. I can feel that energy move up and as it moves up it rocks the body. Since it takes quite a bit of my yoga time I was wondering if there is a way around it or if I was doing something wrong?. Thanks for your input. Guest guest
SAT NAM, BOth ways. Body parts like arms and legs, shake during excercise when I hold for a maybe slightly longer time when energy flows. The entire body rocks by itself during and after meditation while I feel the energy rising. It has a pleasant feeling and it is involuntary and that happens until the energy rises itself and balances out. It varies from anywhere between 1 min to 3-4 min depending on how intense the meditation is. Also, when I do BOF then the lower stomach muscles will be flickering inside and feels somewhat tender. These days I notice that my whole body, all cells, changing like becoming soft and undergoing transforamtion. The energy inside me is constantly there and kind of makes me feel sick . I practice Yoga by myself following KY rules and do not have a yoga teacher in this state. Guest guest
Sat Nam, short of being there it is difficult to advise you. I would suggest you find a yoga set and meditation that cause the least disruption of your spiritual practice. Take these and really master them. You can also attempt on occasion some of the things which cause the shaking and see if it has subsided in any way. The idea of course is to progress as far as you can without engaging in exercises that bring the shaking on to the point of ruining your practice. A little bit of shaking (you are the best judge of what is a little bit) can be tolerated and even be somewhat productive if it helps to focus your mind back on your practice. All these physical things that occur during a spiritual practice are part of that practice. While you would not play loud raucous music while trying to meditate, if a neighbor turns their stereo up, you are going to have to deal with it in a peaceful meditative manner, incorporating it somehow into your sadhana. So too it may be with these body shakes. They might be strictly physical but they also might be the manifestation of some past karma )samskaras brought forward into this lifetime by your spiritual endeavors. All is as God wills it, our task is acceptance. God Bless you, > 1. Guest guest
SAT NAM, So are you saying that I rather reduce on my practice so that rocking/shaking reduces... I could try that but I have been practising for 2 years and mostly the same pattern of set for a week about 1 hour per day, and this started only may be 4-5 months before. It started with very low rocking but only 2 weeks since it is getting intense and it doesnt feel like a disturbance to me and I feel not to stop it at that time and if I just be with it its after-effects are pretty good. It seems to be healing from inside. I know I tired my muscles tremendously before with my anxiety/stress. Has anybody else experienced this body shaking/rocking, I had read a couple of posts before about a mention to this, if they could share their experience that would be very helpful.
