Guest guest
I have experience of chanting 'Sat Nam' in many ways and find it to be very cleansing and usually makes me go through extemes of emotions and realizations etc. But, I read Guru Nanak who speaks of the sweet bliss of the Nam. What methods or techniques did he use or give to reach this state, or is it a matter of progresive stages of meditation? Guest guest
Guru Nanak advocated remembering (chanting, singing, repeating silently) the Name of God. How is it that you wish to do this, is the question you must ask. Do you wish to sing some wonderful spiritual song from the Christian tradition such as Amazing Grace or Long Train Coming? Or do you wish to chant as some Tibetan lama from the sutras? Or perhaps the Jewish tradition of the kabalah attracts you? There are many ways to remember God. Through singing, through working, through serving, through seeing God in all (and I do mean ALL) of your fellow human beings. Guru Nanak was a holy man, intent on remaining holy and assisting any others who wished to do the same. He said, There is no hindu there is no musselman (Muslim) there are only people worshiping god." There are many meditative techniques within Kundalini Yoga that will bring the "sweet bliss of the Nam". With guidance you can select which one you want to do. That guidance can come from within yourself or with the assistance of a teacher. Try as many as you like, find one that is challenging but not impossible. As with any work: Do what you love, success will come.
